Anybody own a Kubota M6060 or M5660?

I'm looking to buy a utility tractor soon and this is where I'm leaning. I'm within 25 miles of 3 Kubota dealers, 2 John Deere dealers and 2 Mahindra dealers. I already own a Kubota side by side and a baby tractor. The local JD dealers were recently purchased by a corporate entity and I have heard several negative stories about the two dealerships from friends and family.

I'll be using the tractor for general tractor stuff like moving round bales, raking, box blading, shredding, etc. If any of yall have this tractor please give me your thoughts.

Make sure it is an HST and watch the canopy/cab if you have trees. I have a smaller 4800 HST without either and it is nice since I can get under tree canopies to shred - hotter then hell in the summer though.

Otherwise get the largest you can afford and store.

1st thought is that it is too small for moving round bales with the loader unless it's kept close to the ground only, with counterweight on the back and limited turning on level ground.

You're likely looking at a 7' shredder max in any kind of HD shredding application. 6' may not make it past the tire tracks. I have a M6800 (62 pto hp) and while it has been a good utility tractor, I see that is roughly the same as the 7060 now (64 pto hp.) A 10' shredder on the M6800 in real tall stuff is a 1st or 2nd gear proposition, and it gets hot very quickly. Compact tractors do not develop the necessary torque low in the powerband to do serious pto work.

4wd and shuttle shift are a must for any real loader work, especially for a tractor of that size and lightweight rear end.

Utility tractors are a compromise, and a lot lighter than row crop style tractors. They are like comparing a burro to a big mule. The burro might be strong for its weight and more nimble, but for any serious work you need the big, plodding mule.

After years of different lines of tractors and sizes on my 60 acres, I finally found the perfect combo. A 2010 M7040 Kubota (no Cab cover due to trees) with quick connect front loader, 4 wheel drive and shuttle shift. My use is dealing with round bales, road grading, shredding and downed and cut tree limbs. Got attachment forks, grappler, box blade, hay spear, man lift and 7 foot bucket that are very easy to change out with quick connect.
This thing has 71 hp with a 3rd remote and turns on a dime for tight places.
Highly recommended!

Out of the two options listed I would go with the M6060. I would personally try to find a used M6040 or 7040. All the new tractors now have the tier 4 engines with all the emissions crap on them and cost more to operate in the long run and will usually have problems with the regen along the way.
