Got a new pair of Chippewas. Foot fit is great but at the top of the boot under the knee is way too loose, not snug. Normal? Will break in help?
Disclosure I have bird legs/ skipped leg day

Normal. There is a buckle you can tighten some (at least on mine) also I tuck my jeans into them so a loose fit is good.

Designed to be loose so you can tuck your jeans in them.

I am also of the birdleg club, even with my jeans tucked in (I usually wear jeans over since they double as dress shoes or I do not want to draw attention to the fact I am wearing snake boots). Never really bothered me or affected how they perform.

There used to be a thread on where to pick up Chippewas on sale or blems or something. Need to get a pair of these.

Edited to add - fellow birdlegger here - do the boots (foot portion) fit to size?

This was the site from a few years ago. They used to be $165 but looks like the price has gone up.

I believe you can also get them at the Justin outlet in DFW cheaper.

I've got a pair that's ten years old. Love them. I even wear them with shorts at the farm on hot days when I won't be visiting town lol. I am looking for a new pair though.

I got mine at the Justin Boot Outlet in Fort Worth about 3 years ago for I think $119. They still work great.

These boots fit to size.

Its nice to have the space on the calf - as these boots don't breath.

Also for tucking jeans in the boots - most common way I see them worn.

I have a pair thats about 8 years old. Time for a re-sole.

And yes, once broken in, they are super comfortable. Wear em on just about every hunting weekend. Still haven't tested their snake proof-ness, and thats ok with me.

Thank y'all. I'll commence to break them in with the bird legs.

It's definitely a well made boot. Got them on points w Cabela's. Only down side is Cabela's only offers EE but with inserts they fit great.

Now, odds on a rattler striking above the knee?

Just hope to never find out.

I would think that kind of bite would come in a scenario where you're either squatting in the woods bc the poop ship is ready for launch, or you're sitting down on a dove bucket/ground blind and one catches you.

Standing and getting hit above the knee sounds like a long shot.
