I'm mostly just a lurker on this forum but respect and value everyone's opinion on here. Does anyone have any comments on Boat Right boats? I'm looking at a Big Shell model. Boat Right is a Tohatsu dealer. Should I buy a Yamaha somewhere else? Should I put a TRP on the Yamaha? Are Yamahas still in short supply? Thanks for any replies.

I live about a half mile down the road from them and they build some cool boats.

They make a great quality boat but like any flat bottom jon boat they will rattle your teeth loose in any sort of a chop.

Why are you set on a Yamaha? Tohatsu makes an outstanding motor. My experience is with smaller ones up to 60hp but there are a lot of people who will go Tohatsu over Yammy these days. Especially in the skiff crowd as a 50hp Tohatsu is a good 50 pounds lighter than the 50 Yammy.

Boat Right makes a great boat if you like the style. Good folks.

As for the motor...tohatsu is just a Honda with more syllables. Open one up...everything is honda parts.
They are plenty reliable.

The motor would probably be 250 HP. I'm just more familiar with Yamaha's dependability in saltwater. Also, I like the hole shot with a TRP.
