The wife has some work seminars to attend in Conroe this weekend and Im tagging along to get out of the house and to get a line in the water. Any recs on public access and good spots? I prefer fishing from the bank or a dock using bait, but Im open for any suggestions for this time of year.

What are you fishing for? On the north end of the lake are a couple of corps of engineers parks that have more accessible lakeshore to fish. Or, you can drive 20 mins further north to Huntsville St Park and fish lake Raven which you can fish from anywhere around.

Walden Marina... Huge bream on crickets, cast towards boat rentals for crappie, fish off the rocks for catfish.

Thank you for the thread here. Can you please share your gear here too? I wonder which fishing rod you use. I would like to get some of them from https://www.jandh.com/catalog/rods/manufacturer/shimano I think Shimano make some really nice and quality stuff. Maybe you can recommend me something about it too? I would appreciate your recommendations from you
