Due to inexplicable reasons, karma has gifted me the opportunity to ride herd some colleagues from Chicago while in Palestine this week. I haven't visited this charming hamlet since 1994. Any passable BBQ or Tex-Mex to be found? Doesn't have to be great, just decent enough to give my charges some exposure to the staples.

Lupes Little Mexico for mezcan or the place next to it for Italian.

Edit: lobos little Mexico.

Lupe's is decent TexMex. No clue on the BBQ though.

Shep's for BBQ

I am a fan of Shep's after stopping by on the way back to Houston in 2016. Ton of food for the money.

Switch Brick Pizza and Oven Bar was really good.

Go to the Pitt Grill around 11pm. Get some catfish and do some gambling next door with the homies.

Little Mexico is the best Tex-Mex in the state. Not too be missed. (there is no Lupe or whatever you called it)

Oxbow Bakery for pie. Can't beat it.

Redfire grill (I think is the name...near courthouse?) is on the more upscale side and very legit. Top 5 steaks I've ever had.

I can't remember the name, but on Hwy 79 headed out of town to the north, there is a TexMex on the left just before you get to the loop that is good.

I'm not, but by all appearances at the hotel, everybody visiting here is, in fact, working on the railroad. I feel like I need pinstripe overalls to fit in (I kid, I kid).

Definitely little mexico

In addition to Little Mexico, my group will go to El Toro across from the Palestine Mall. Magnolia in downtown is a good lunch spot.
