Calling on the wisdom of the OD board. I have a gas line that runs to my outdoor kitchen that is currently tied into my gas grill. I will be adding a griddle to the patio and need a fitting to split the line. The line is exposed to the elements to some extent. What material do I need to use for the above ground fitting?

Is the current line steel with NPT fittings? Maybe copper with flare fittings?

On mine I used a 1/2" malleable iron threaded tee and two brass craft gas ball valves (one for each line to each of the appliances) with couplers.

Hire a plumber. I've known two gas appliances to blow up in the last 4 years, both were fed by propane/NG lines. One was a table with a gas fire feature in it that blew up with about 8 people around it and the other was a gas grill. Not a place to save money unless you're qualified, IMO.

propane or NG?

Something like this:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/BrassCraft-ProCoat-1-2-in-FIP-x-1-2-in-MIP-x-48-in-Stainless-Steel-Gas-Connector-1-2-in-O-D-60-500-BTU-CSSD54-48-X/100193061

and this

you can use a brass-t for low maintance.

Use liquid teflon, not tape.
