Howdy OB... I've got a friend with a cat problem (probably kittens too), and really needs to re-home them. None of the area shelters are taking in cats for foster or adoption. Surrender for euthanasia isn't an option on the table for this person, leaving no publicly available service for assistance with this type of a problem that can easily be found.

The question posed:
-Does anyone know of any options out there to help with this type of situation?
-Would anyone be interested in or know someone interested in a "barnyard cat" to keep around on rural property?

This is a real problem, for a real person. I'm trying to help. Don't shoot the helper.

Look on Facebook for some activists. I don't even have that many friends and I see several posts a day about fosters and rehabs. There are way more independent fosters than shelters.

Start by neutering and spaying the existing cats. If you're friend isn't will to start there, then they don't deserve anybody's help. After that, social media, social media, social media. Maybe host a birthday party for every 5-7 year old kid in the neighborhood.

That's illegal in this country.

Depending on location, I know some cities (Bryan does it) will trap, neuter, clip an ear, and re-release.

The blue hairs on Nextdoor were gabbing about it after someone complained they found "surprises" in their garden.

Wait until this person leaves town for the weekend. Once they are out of range you miraculously find someone who wants the whole lot. Then go deal with the problem and tall your friend that the new owner is a reclusive hermit that doesn't have contact with the outside world and the cats are loving their new home.
