I need some recommendations to take my son's fishing.

Gibbons Creek or Summerville will have the best fishing. We have had decent luck on the Brazos at 21 but very random. If you just want to get a hook in the water Bryan Lake but I have not caught a fish in years there.

Gibbons is really good for kids.

Is it still weekends only?

^^ Research park- it is posted no fishing so personally, I wouldn't fish there. Sort of gives a bad impression to ignore posted signs regarding wildlife.
However, the pond behind Bush Presidential library is stocked with fish and is catch & release, so maybe SanAntoneAg meant that one instead?

I used to have great luck getting four and five pound small mouth bass out of the golf courses.

I wouldn't eat anything from there, too many pesticides, but still great fun!

Back in my day (late 80s), there weren't posted signs at the Research Park.

Those were largemouths, not smallies.

From what I've heard it's not bad and just right for a quick trip with kids.

I always forget that one; you're speaking of the one near the nature trails right?

SanAntoneAg-I figured that might be the case, but since the OP didn't mention how old his son(s) were, I figured a heads up might be in order. Even if you can't fish there, Research Park is still pretty nice. Watch out for copperheads though. The park is so groomed in places I forget to watch where I'm stepping sometimes and am glad my youngest has sharp eyes.

There's a tank tucked away behind Sam's Club in College Station.. It's actually pretty good fishing. I used to go there years ago. Haven't been in some time and not sure the legalities of it

Front in fell into a huge hole. Back tire is off the ground. Could someone pull me out? It won't take much

Bryan Muni
I'd like to point out that if you fish Bryan Muni, "Finfeather Lake", or anywhere in the lower Burton Creek watershed that is fed by Bryan Muni or Finfeather Lake - DO NOT EAT THE FISH. It's a known arsenic contaminated source, complete with a superfund site, associated cleanup and lawsuits, and is perpetually offlimits for consumption.

That said, Finfeather Lake is a great spot to catch & release. Park at the Feed Barn and walk to the railroad tracks.

I feel like I inadvertently caused you to get stuck with my fishing spot suggestion :/

You probably didn't even get to fish.

We did fish but my young son's got bored easily so we left for Central. They had good enough of a day fishing that they're asking to go fishing again tomorrow.

They're relatively new to fishing

Anyone have any luck at the Brazos on 21 lately? Looking for somewhere local today.
