Questions:

1. Any industry-insider on likelyhood of HPA passing in the next 2 years?

2. If HPA is approved, do you expect a movement by many to sell to intregal suppressor barrels whereas the rifled part of the assembly is 8-12" and the rest (of the legal length barrel) is suppressor, but in a permanent state? I see this as a way to get the best of both suppressor and SBR worlds.

In regards to your question about 300 blk, 6.5G, and the suggestion of 6.8...

I have 300 blk in 8.5 and 12.5". They are very close in db with same ammo with the 12.5" being 1db quieter on average with the rudimentary tests I did. My 6.8, 18" barrel, is 2dB louder than my 12.5" 300blk when shooting both with supersonic ammo.

I have not done any sound level testing with my 16" 6.5G. My 6.5G SBR is an F'ing fire breathing dragon that has too much blast for my suppressors (AAC TM300'S) so I have not shot it suppressed.

In general I like my 6.8 better than my 6.5G for pig hunting because I am typically taking short range shots which don't need the 6.5G performance and I have had better luck finding cheap ammo (Federal 90gr soft point $9/box)...

I spend a lot of time shooting both pigs and predators and there are few times I have been successful getting off multiple rounds w/o spooking the other animals, even with subs out of 300blk. Pigs typically squeal when hit. Ear hole will usually keep them from squeezing but they still hit the ground and kick. This tends to scare the others. Shooting at night, no light, with night vision or thermal, suppressed, in open fields is the only way I am usually able to get multiples.

I have found that the thump of a 220 grain suppressed bullet going into a pig will somewhat alarm the others and once the shot pig does the death kick most pigs run for cover, although not as fast as they normally do when shooting non-suppressed.

HPA will never pass, when was the last time the government loosened gun control and asked for less tax money...i wont hold my breath. Also the big companies dont want it to pass. it opens up the market to too many people to make crappy cheap cans.

as for your SBR question, the design i use is not considered an sbr with 8" of rifling and 8" of suppressor for a blackout. the barrel is 16 OAL and meets all the requirements. so its a single stamp upper.

Eric,

Thanks for the info, and welcome to the OB. Your products are highly intriguing, and your website is top notch.....lots of great info.

Do you guys offer services involved with setting up the trust and applying for a stamp?

You have dealers listed, but could I buy direct from you?

I haven't completely made up my mind what I want, but leaning toward an AR upper for cost reasons and the fact I have multiple lowers already. The 6.5 Grendel is very tempting because of the sound rating even with supersonics.... I wanted to stay with a 7.62x39 because I have that caliber already, but the decibel rating is quite a bit higher. I really don't get why the 300 BO is that much lower dB than the 7.62. Seem to be fairly similar rounds, I guess it's just the (typically) higher muzzle velocity of the 7.62. I don't see bullet weights listed, were there multiple weights and velocities tested for each round?

If I'm shooting less then ~120 yards with a sub MOA rifle, I'm good with ear hole shots. Any reason to not go with the Grendel?

yes we offer free trust, finger prints and photo IDs with an in house purchase. so its a one stop shop we can do it all here on the spot. we are located in Stafford texas. just south of Houston on 59. We have a small office to do retail business but no real showroom. So yes we have dealers and are direct.

I think the 6.5G is the way to go for what you want, it hits hard like a Blackout and is quieter with supers. also its a very mild recoil with cheap bulk ammo for plinking and good hunting ammo available too,

The 762x39 us louder than the blackout because its using rifle power and blackouts use pistol/shotgun powder. The muzzle velocity has nothing to do with sound other than breaking the sound barrier or not.

smaller diameter bullets are quieter than larger diameter in supersonic flight. so the quietest rifle we make is the 204 ruger, its also the fastest.
