From the ATN Facebook group, most people like it. There really is not a significant difference from the XSight2 other than the internal screen which is 4K. Same funcionality otherwise. Biggest change is the basic design, making it more versatile for mounting on AR or Bolt Action Rifles.

When either of you are ready to get rid of your xsight 2 let me know.

How well do these work for night hunting? Way cheaper than the thermal stuff.

Preliminary results are good. I have seen one indoors, but haven't put it through its paces in the field. I like the change in case design. ATN has promised dealers the hardware and software are more stable than previous product releases. I quit stocking ATN after the Xsight 1 issues and went special order only on them. I liked this version enough I am taking the chance and ordered a stocking order. I am a big fan of the Sightmark Photon line but I think this one will give them some stiff competition.

Digital night vision works fine if you understand and accept the limitations. I would place picture quality somewhere just below gen 2+ tubed night vision. I have video from a Photon RT of my buddy walking my lab at 200 yards. It's clear enough you could make the shot at that distance. The difference between it and thermal is had I not told him to walk out and known exactly where to look, I may have not seen them. With thermal they would glow like light bulbs.

Would an Illuminator help with the digital NV?

Definitely an upgrade over the X-Sight II, and not just in being 4K. Whole unit seems to be a lot better. On all of the digital units, an enhanced IR helps A LOT. I use laser based ones and they are phenomenal. Able to get out to 250+ with laser based. Generally the digital stuff kind of starts tapering off after 100yards, depending on moonlight and such. With a standard gen 2 unit, there's a definite step up from digital but it's not earth shattering. With the higher end gen 2HP units and a good illuminator, I can see 300-400 yards with it. With a laser based system, even further. In fact, I rarely sell regular Gen 3+ anymore. The Gen2+HPs are nearly as good as Gen3+ so, unless you're wanting to drop it on a 308 and need a Gen 4/Gen3+ Filmless (same thing), it's hard to justify the cost jump from Gen2+HP to Gen3+.

Not yet. But my x-sight ii's are still drilling pigs over 100 yards damn near every weekend. I haven't heard much in the night vision world that has made people drop their xsights to upgrade to their newer version. But I'm eager to hear any new news as well.

Waiting for Skelso to chime in on this vs the new Sightmark Wraith

I've got a gen2 I'm looking to sell for anyone interested. I've got a NIB external battery pack and upgraded IR torch. Three batteries and a charger. Sell it all for 500.

Fido, choosing between the 2, um going Sightmark everytime because ATN customer service sucks.

I have looked through a Wraith but have not had one in the field yet. In my opinion its comparable to the Photon at night but better during the day due to color. Whether it's picture quality is comparable or better than the 4k is a tough call at this point. I would need to get them side by side in the field before I would be comfortable giving an opinion.

I have Wraiths on order and should get some of the first shipment to hit the states. I'll try to remember to circle back and post here after I get one in the field

On a side note, which ir lights are y'all using these days?

Any idea if it's worth upgrading to the Wraith from the RT? I like the idea of a little more digital zoom but am happy with the RT.

Anybody know of a quick detach that will fit the 4k? It's needs almost 4" between the inside rings. Largest I found (other than the Atn quick detach which I don't like that style) is a Midwest which has 3.5" between the inside rings.

Larue suggested using 2 single piece rings, hoping to get a 1 piece.

I use the Sniper Hog Lights 66lrx. It's a light and day (pun intended) difference between the provided IR illuminator.

Eye guy what illuminator do you recommend, I have one of your gen 2+ units and would love to try another one out?

S Kelso, I see on your website you have received the Wraith earlier this month. Have you had a chance to really study it? I like the idea of Sightmark over ATN, but I do like the WIFI to iPad technology so I can see what my kids see when they are on the rifle.

Also, roughly how deep would the current backlog list be for a new order of the Wraith?

Speaking of night vision, b&h photo has the Flir scout tk on sale now for 499 and comes with a free fenix flashlight. With no tax and free shipping, this is the best price I've seen on the tk, which is the best entry level thermal viewer.

I havent had time to hunt with the wraith yet but did get it out in the field a few nights to test it out. Its a good unit. The color during tge day makes it a better day/night scope than the Photon, which is b&w all the time. In my opinion, the Photon is still a better night scope, especiqlly past about 100 yards. So if you are looking for something for primarilly night use, I would go Photon. If you are looking for a general use scope, go Wraith.

Heres a video I made a posted to several of the FB groups. Immediately all the "experts" came out to tell me I did it wrong, some even going so far as to claim I rigged the video to make the Photon look better... Which is a hillarious claim because I sell both and make a larger margin on the Wraith!

I made a mount that let me mount both scopes to a single stock, adjust them to nearly the same point of impact, and video simultaneously using a single IR torch (the one that comes with the Wraith).



As far as backlog, I have filled all but 1 presold order so you would be second on the list if you order now. Sightmark is telling me 2nd week of June for next shipment.

Ive tried a lot of illuminators over the years and always came back to cheap chinese knock offs on Amazon, like Evola. They work well. Fit and finish isnt the best but there are some tricks that help like wrapping the threads for the head with teflon tape. These illuminators are hard to beat for a budget unit (< $50).

If you are willing to drop the cash (~$200), the Coyote Reaper IR is unbelievable.

I have the Evola T50 that works very well with my ATN. Got it for $45 on Amazon. I upgraded to nitecore batteries also.

Look into Accufire Technology, Noctis V1. In my opinion one of the better digital rifle scopes out there.

That scope is actually a throwback to some of the DYI stuff people were doing about 10 years ago. I built something similar, although not all in 1 package like theirs, and never really liked it. I couldnt get used to the amount of light it cast onto me and my surroundings.

Is this still available? If so, can you send exact details about what it is. Much appreciated

Have the 5-20. Ours is great for what we use it for. Too heavy for a pistol. I did mine on a 6.5G and tripod
