Would you buy it again? Or something else?

I have a Ruger Standard (Mark I) and it is the sweetest shooting tack driver that I have in a pistol. If they are still making them anything like that I'd recommend it.

Have the MK IV hunter model with the bull barrel. Beautiful gun and shoots as good as it looks. Runs plenty of different types of ammo with no problem and is plenty accurate for my shooting abilities. Highly recommend it.

Love and would by again. Can be tricky to disassemble though

I have the P512 22/45 with the 5.5" bull barrel. First handgun I ever bought. I prefer the grip angle to the standard "luger" style most mark I,II,III,IV guns.

On a sandbag, you can shoot it at a 50 yard range quite reasonably.

I like it. Huge upgrade over the mark 3. Prefer the victory it buckmark but it's just a Ford/Chevy/Dodge argument at that point

And damn near impossible to reassemble
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

Mark IV s don't have that problem. Hence me liking them

Check out the take down on the IV. About 2 seconds

I won a Mark IV Lite last week at a DU banquet , looks to be a sweet little gun. Going to top it with a low profile holo sight soon. Anyone have one they would recommend?

I thought I just read there was a recall on the IV and that included the 22/45?

My wife got me this 22/45 for Christmas. It was good before but after replacing the trigger and sear it is even better. It is still a bit of a pain to fully disassemble and reassemble, but general takedown and maintenance is very easy.

wrong. mk I, II, III are impossible to reassemble. The beauty of the mk IV is the absolute ease to take down and rerassemble.

Right, I keep seeing those comments and wonder if people realize the OP was specifically asking about the MK IV, not the earlier models.

Cause if you have trouble breaking down a MK IV, you're beyond help. It's just pushing a single button and pulling them apart, easy as can be.

I should also mention that my gun had some issues to start. Had about a 60% FTE or FTF rate. I sent it back to Ruger. They replaced the bolt and extractor. Now with CCI 40gr round nose it is flawless. With Winchester 36gr copper hollow points it has hung up a few times in a hundred shots.

I sold my MKIII and got a MKIV, this is it with all VQ internals.

Wrong. These guns along with the 22 standard are beautifully designed pistols that are easy to understand and disassemble/reassemble. In fact, in the 1950's the major advertising point that Ruger used was how easy it was to take apart and put back together. Any body could do it back then.

I have no idea when the transition from it being easy to work with to being a pain in the ass took place but apparently that's a thing. Good on ruger to recognize that people could no longer handle the simple instructions and redesign the mechanism.

My guess would be the MK III with it's magazine disconnect. I had a gunsmith delete this on mine.

Yes those are terrible. They should definitely be removed but that is pretty easy to do.

Watching videos on how to disassemble the MKiii, my favorite line was find a hard surface and slam the frame like so on it. I literally used a concrete floor to disassemble one once.

Nice. VQ parts really do make these pistols amazing.

I have the same Fast Fire III red dot and Sparrow SS combo on my Mk III 22/45. I mounted the Burris into the read sight dovetail like you did, its much lower than the goofy rail. Makes for a very fun pistol.

That said, I shoot my 1959 22 standard the most. I also have a Mk II in stainless. All great shooters but my Mk III took some work.
