Well, it's that time. I'm getting back into competition shooting. Having this store and not doing it has been driving me nuts. Only took three freaking years but I finally have a staff that I can leave on saturday mornings to run the place while I go compete. I probably should jump back into sporting clays, but that's not the business that I'm in so that'll be put off for a while. The two things I am going to get into are 3 Gun (and you'll see some more stuff being posted about 3 gun equipment as me and the crew start filling out our loadouts) and 22 silhouette.

I was going to put together a 10/22 from scratch but something fell in my lap this past weekend... you guys will see a post on it when it's put together this weekend. Should be here tomorrow. But, needed a scope and most of the stuff we deal with from Rudolph and the like is not geared for rimfire. Had done some browsing at SHOT and had settled on the Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9x40. I probably could have gotten away with the 2-7x, but what's the fun in that?

It just got in today and I have to say, I'm more impressed with it than I remember. The only negative I have is that it doesn't have target turrets for quick adjusting on the fly, but it does have a BDC so no big deal there. The glass on it is PHENOMENAL for the money. Very crisp, bright image with a very generous FOV. Also, the scope itself is very light weight, which is what I'm overall going for with this rifle since I'll be moving from target to target.

Street price on these is $199 and I am extremely happy with my decision on it. If you're wanting a scope for a rimfire that has better performance than most of the sub $100 rimfire scopes, this is one to definitely look at.

Is there a Mil/Mil option?

Just MOA for now, at least. With this style, I don't really foresee a Mil verson, but we shall see.

Airgunners who use the high-powered European spring-piston rifles have used Leupold rimfire scopes for many years as they have an excellent view as you state, and will also hold up to the reverse recoil that will tear apart most centerfire scopes. The ones with an adjustable objective are especially valued, as pellet rifles have a pretty loopy trajectory, and knowing the range listed on the AO bell after you focus helps to dial in holdover in a very precise manner.

Interesting. If this is the best you can find for the price still for a 22 in a few months I'll be calling to order one.

Found out one of the ranges near my future base has 22 bullseye matches every month

Not going to lie, the Stoney Point add on knobs have been nails on a couple of Leupolds I own. May look into those.
