We were able to find countless houses to rent. I would have guessed it the other way around.

There are a lot of houses. But beware!!! Some are renting and not restored yet. Just make sure it's finished RIGHT NOW. That's the key.

Lots of rentals don't have the pool or maybe the walk to the beach is still gone. That kind of stuff.

The major hit was condo's. Non-beach access stuff is available. If you want to walk to the beach and have a pool like a condo, you're going to be very limited.

What's available is priced higher than normal.
2-3 bedroom condos with pools, beach front , and nice amenities and ready to go are running $400-$550 a night depending on how many they sleep.

The demand is just higher than supply this year. Lots of condo people will be forced into off -water homes.
Which is great too
We just need to get as many people here as possible.

Come stay in corpus or anywhere down here , but run over and have dinner in port a. The chain stores are fine, it's the local guys that need your $

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, the house we got is non-beach access in Port A, but has a golf cart included for driving to the beach. First line of the description says it has been "verified rental-ready" (think the owners use a third party management co to rent it out).

I'll be down in a week and plan to spend plenty of money locally!

That's really smart. If I was renting a house I'd go buy a golf cart today and rent it with the home.
Takes away the need for walking distance to the beach. That's a good idea.

I have no idea what they rent for. I'll bet it's a lot. They flooded the market this year and the price should drop.

I have one. It's slow. They won't show me how to take off the governor. I get passed all the time. I hate it. The older models were easy but this one they made it harder. Maybe someone on the auto board would know ...

Rockport is better than i had expected. Caught a 22" spec this morning and got a great rod and reel for my son from tackle town. What is odd - cast net isn't producing much bait at all.

We fished out of Rockport/Port A the first weekend of May. It was a bit surrender. I was left wondering how many intersections in the greater Houston area still don't have working traffic lights? My guess would be zero. I counted 6 in the Rockport/Port A area... And I am sure there are more.

Stayed at Drifter's Resort. They made it through but the oak trees were absolutely wrecked. Our guide told us about the damage he and his mentor suffered. Heartbreaking.

Many homes and businesses still with blue roof tarps. Many hotels, businesses and apartments still completely abandoned.

This is why I've been advocating for recovery on the Central Texas Coast and not just a focus on Houston. Of course Houston gets the bulk of media coverage because of it's size...but the coast needs our help too.
