Pretty weak sale.

Really wanted some attack pants.

I think most KUIU sales are pretty weak. They just never to seem to really have a good discounts, and when they do, it's not on the stuff you want (or in the size you want).

To be fair, Sitka and First Lite rarely go more than 25-30% off either. They simply don't have to.

http://www.kuiu.com/sale-rain/ultra-nx-rain-jacket/50016.html?cgid=sale-rain&dwvar_50016_color=ViasCamo#start=1

This is a pretty steep discount and all sizes are still available. The stuff I was interested in wasn't discounted very much but I still got a guide jacket in vias.

I'm looking for a pair of "all-conditions" hunting pants, something that I can wear and be comfortable to 70*, or with long johns if it's chilly. Decent fit (not bagg_y...interesting censor), kind of like a quiet uninsulated soft shell would be ideal. I have soft shell pants that are too insulated and milsurp acu soft shell pants that are almost right but too bagg_y, having a hard time finding my unicorn. Does Kuiu or Sitka make what I'm looking for?

First Lite Corrugate Guide Pants - https://www.firstlite.com/corrugate-guide-pant.html

The KUIU Attack Pants will also fit that bill, I believe. - http://www.kuiu.com/hunting-pants-shorts/attack-pant/40001.html

Anyone ever tried SixSite?

Very similar to KUIU and Sitka, from what I can tell. Met Stephen Holley at DSC. Seemed passionate and is very likable, plus he's an ex-Navy Seal and all of their inventory is made in the USA.

Might try here:

If you are OK with solid colors the Prana Zion pants have been absolutely awesome for me this year. Spent weeks in Wyoming this year wearing them. Only put on merino base layer a few times when the temperature was in the teens, but I was moving quite a bit.

Anyone have their guide DCS jacket or guide pants?
Quote:

I have both. The jacket is amazing and the pants seem like they're a bit overkill for hunting in Texas. I'd go with the Attack pants if I could do it over again.

I'm 6'3" and everything fits great. Apparently others (Sean) haven't had such luck.

I have the guide DCS jacket and the attack pants... I agree with Watchful Ag that the attack pants fit TX better. Fit is good... I'm 5'11".

Look at SKRE and SYLO clothing as well.

I'd take a look at camofire.com and see what they have. they often have closeout styles or colors. I bought two pair of SKRE, and two pair of Sylo from them this summer and consider them both winning purchases.

The SKRE is more of a durable soft-shell (w/ vented thighs). The Sylo Redding Pant a lighter pant.

Was going to post the exact same thing. I'm wearing some right now. I also have a different cut that is more casual without the cargo pocket but made from the same material. I will wear these down to stupid low temps with long johns underneath and will switch over to kuiu tiburon pants at about 75*.

I have a few of their jackets... all in XL. The pants I have are all 34s.
I'm 5'11" and bounce around between 180 and 185. For a comparison, I wear a medium in the Columbia Tamiami shirts. I've tried on the L and XL jacket (at their mobile showroom)... I think I fall in between the L and XL, tbh.

I sometimes get $25 off $250 codes in emails... or free shipping... or some combination like that. Also, they had similar discounts at the mobile showroom (only worth going if you want to try stuff on and see their gear in person).

1) Not true. Similar products are maybe $20 difference

2) I assume they are 10-15% cheaper because they are 15% shorter. Cheap does me no good if their pants are shorts.

3) My personal customer service interactions with the 2 companies has been 5000% better with FirstLite. Infinity would be a more accurate degree. I will gladly pay a little more to do business with a company that seems to actually give a s***.

Buy a pair of upland chaps and *Voila*, EVERY pair of pants is an upland pair of pants.

I bought chaps about 5 years ago and haven't worn a dedicated pair of upland pants since.

Something like these Orvis Toughshell, or these Cabelas DryPlus, or the Cabela's Prairie Runner.

Gracias. I'd never thought about going the chaps route before. I got gifted a couple pair of dedicated upland pants many moon ago and they've run their course.

I'd avoid the oil cloth super heavy chaps though. They're too hot and heavy.

After hunting in a myriad of temps including one day when there was "no temperature" I am switching to chaps. Easier to change out your pants based on weather. I will probably use gaiters too.
