Welp, as the title suggests I had a safe of ~25 guns go underwater in the Beaumont area thanks to Harvey.

Some of these guns are very valuable and I would like to find someone who I can trust to take very good care of the intricate woodwork and things like that...any suggestions?

Thank you all for any leads!

I have used Felands in the past for my shotguns. They do top notch work.

John Powers in Magnolia is getting quite a few in. That's where I'd go.

For the higher end guns, definitely felands. Anything that isn't crazy expensive, I'll probably be able to handle for cheaper for you.

Just kidding, apparently I can't send PMs... but I will be by your shop tomorrow! Thanks again

I'll throw out another rec for Feland's.

They restored a shotgun my grandfather gave me; they repaired a split in the stock and got rid of a lot of rust on the barrels (1920-30's vintage Stevens 12ga SxS) but kept the old patina. It's not a high-end shotgun but it holds a lot of sentimental value for me.

Thanks for posting, Finn.

And the rest - you all have given me two great avenues for the two types of restorations I need help with. Much appreciated.

Just talked to Felands myself. Looks like we'll be doing some business with them in the future as well.

Along the same lines, does anybody in Houston have suggestions for looking at and making any necessary repairs to an antique firearm that has been in my mom's family for 100+ years. An 1877 Martini-Henry rifle firing the .577/450 round. I had intended to get it checked out a few years back and even acquired 60 rounds, but never got around to it.

What's wrong with it?

As far as I know, nothing. The firing mechanism works fine. The rifle has had some parts replaced as most of the rifle is marked BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) but the replacement parts are marked LSA (London.) The barrel seems a little bit pitted but not too bad. Just wanted someone to give it a complete look over and cleaning before I even think about putting a round through it.
