Improvements include:

Flared magwell
Ambi slide stop
NO FINGER GROOVES
New Marksman barrel

MAP on these look to be $569 though depending on availability they will be running a good chunk higher.

And "Marksman Barrels"... I don't have anything straight from Glock on this but it's supposed to be regular land and groove rifling vs polygon and a target crown on the barrel?

Magazine compatibility?

No news there so I would assume standard glock mags

No finger grooves.

When will these be available. Need to pick up a 19

Within a week or two is when they will be shipping. Most likely VERY hard to get at first. I'll be getting as many as possible and I'll keep my prices as close to MAP as possible for Texags.

God they are ugly guns. But they go bang when you pull the trigger.

But do they have the feature of going bang when dropped like the new Sigs?

Same old Glock sights.

I don't know why, but I shoot worse with Flocks then every other pistol I've ever shot (with perhaps one exception). It's probably the grip and the way it fits in my Sasquatch hands

There's already a Gen 6, but it hasn't been released yet.

Hopefully Gen 5 includes a properly functioning extractor.

We have a G17 Gen 4 and G19 Gen 4 with front serrations on them. TexAgs price is $569.

I'm a Gen 3 guy so hard to understand; why no finger grooves?

Because the arbitrary placement of finger grooves don't fit all hands.

They are great if they work for your hand, but they don't for many people.

The finger grooves are fine if they fit your hands/grip. They're a bit annoying if they don't. I suppose enough people complained that they removed them.

Gen 2's didn't have tiger groves either iirc.

Finger groves are typically one of the things people typically don't like about them. A lot of places that modify the frames for glocks will retexture the grip to not have the grooves, and on Gen 3 frames scallop the area out around the mag release.

To answer a few questions from above -

The Gen 5 mags have a floor plate (you can see it in the pics) and an orange follower. Older mag styles still fit the new pistols though.

There are options on the sights including factory installed red fiber optic front sight.

Glock was losing contracts because bid requirements explicitly said no finger grooves.

For a company that pushes itself as the ultimate tactical pistol, it doesn't make sense that those options aren't standard instead of the useless white dots.

They pride themselves in being reliable and durable. Fiber optic sights are anything but durable.

I get that. Does it matter if it survives being Frozen in ice, dunked in quicksand, and drug through the mud if you can't aim?

I keep seeing people say the internals are almost totally different. Supposedly based on the 43. What's that all about?

Well I'm a patridge sight guy myself so I don't like glocks sights but I like them much more than the fiber optics.

I guess it's my turn to feed the troll... Please explain "if you can't aim?"

You'd be surprised at how many people don't understand that those white dots won't show up at night.

And before you jump to any Intelligent person should know better, that's not your average customer. They see the shiny advertising and one handed slide racks and assume the sights are on par.

As mentioned by someone else, Glocks don't point naturally to me, but a 26 is my go to subcompact for jogging and casual attire. Sights just don't seem on the same level as the rest of the sidearm or their advertising.
Puryear Playboy

Ehhh...ok. No real argument there. Sights are a price point issue.

The vast majority don't know how to shoot anyway and expensive sights are lost on them. LE are going to order with a specified night sight installed. I think Glock just decided on the least expensive option that works, knowing that those who who need more are just going to chunk the stock ones anyway.

Factory night sights are even more expensive for Glock because they can't be installed at the factory. Tritium is a huge no-no in Europe and is specifically illegal in Austria and Germany.

They even have to import pistols with adjustable sights and remove them when they get here due to import laws. So the night sight option means someone in Atlanta has to put them on. More cost.

The pic posted above by Tx4guns is my gun sent me by the factory in June. I can't believe they didn't make FS standard on the Gen5, but then they didn't listen to me on XM17 submission either...

The 42 and 43 are different mainly because they're a slimmer and more compact overall platform. I obviously haven't gotten my hands on the gen 5's yet but I can't see why internally they'd be significantly different from the gen 4's....

How are they saying they're different internally? Any specifics?
