Sorry to stretch the rules, but the OB is the only place I would trust the answers. I'm looking for a good alternative to Wrangler Riatas for boot cut pants to wear in business casual situations. It seems Riata quality (material thickness and wear) has declined and is inconsistent. I've tried Cabelas' chinos. They're just ok, but not great style and the waist frays fairly quickly.

Anyone found a brand they like and would recommend?

I've been wearing Dockers that I order a size longer than normal. They fit fine over boots.

I'm sorry business casual for you is slacks.

I got some UnderArmour storm slacks I wear to the field when the big shots come to town, maybe that is something to look at.

Man it's nice to work from my home office. I can roll into the office in shorts if I have no meetings planned.

I do sympathize with you on the riatas. I typically wear them when I hit the road for a week of meetings.

Levi's Dockers works for me. I like the look of the Riata's better, but the fit of the Docker's on me is much better. I guess Levi's understands short fat people exist.

I like like Dockers as well. Also really like Carhartt khakis. I've got a pair like these. More like a carpenter style. They've been great. They are tagged as bootcut, but they fit over my size 16 red wings fine.

I don't have these, but would probably buy a pair next time I can try on a pair.

OP - take a look at Duluth. They've got a foreman's khaki that might be perfect for you. I've got a pair I like them. Definitely good to go w boots.

Dockers with a 1 inch longer inseam than you would normally wear work just fine.

I proudly recently got some Riatas. I thought they were pretty comfy. My wife got home, "what the hell are you wearing, those make you look homeless". Sure the relaxed fit is a bit b****, but it is what the store had and they are comfy.

I have a pair of wrangler retro jeans in a Kakhi color. I really like them, probably my favorite pair of pants that I own. They may be a little more causal than what your looking for but worth checking out.

So what's the ending - returned? Go on...

I had already worn them several times before she noticed. I polled the women in my office and it was about 50/50. But, with the way they were laughing at the story, I suspect more are in agreement......in the end I will go with comfort.

Check out Eddie Bauer pants. I've been wearing these pants with boots for five years. They hold up well... I have no plans to change.

Knowing your self-proclaimed propensity for being cheap I mean frugal, and eating anything, the homeless bit is not surprising.

Part of her jokingly not liking the look is she knows I hang around or find homeless encampments.....a lot. And just to be nice, I'll sit down and have lunch with them under the bridge if they ask me to.

I've tried for almost eight years to figure out a decent option for casual pants and cowboy boots.

My current go-to pants are the Wrangler Flat Front Riatas. I'm skinny and the pleated Riatas make me look like MC Hammer.

The main issue I have with the flat front Riatas is that they only come in about three different colors. I mean would it kill Wrangler to make 'em in grey and navy?

Polo khakis are nice and they have large, deep pockets (i.e. G42 in a pocket holster)
