So at a different walmart they have the Bushnell trophy cam hd 12mp for $30, Primos Proof 03 Blackout 12 mp for $30, and a crush 10 Lights out with picture viewer on the camera for $30.


If I just need one or 2 of these and not 30 of them, which do yall recommend?

Passed up a Moultrie M-888i today. Cost was $74.99.

Wasnt sure of the quality. Any experiences? Did I make a mistake by not buying?

It was a good deal but nothing to lose sleep over. It's a low glow IR which I have mixed emotions about.

I'll let you know. I just found some for $35 so of course I bought them.

My general experience with Moultrie had been very positive, FYI. But like many camera companies they make different products for different price points. Quality control for all of them gets iffy once you are sub$100 MSRP. Thankfully Moultrie customer service is very good.

I've upgraded the firmware on the 888i, and registered the warranty. I'm going to get one out in the woods tomorrow and I'll let you know what you missed out on.

Seems sturdily built. Big heavy clasp is easy to work (think it'll even be easy with gloves or in the cold). Programming is a little weird, not super intuitive, but not terrible.

Local WM restocked last night with Bullet Proof Cams but not 6mp, 12mp instead. Went up to $56.

Picked up 3 of the Bushnell Trophy Cam Essentials, but they were $35 at the two WM's I hit. From what I can tell, they are the same as the Bushnell Trophy Cams, but 12 MP instead of 16 MP. I run all of mine at 8 MP anyway, so not really a big deal.

I think Shayne and I wiped out Kansas. No more clearance cameras to be found.

I got one of the Trophy Cams 3 years ago and it has been running non-stop since then at my casa and is still reliable. Not the best resolution but I still think the mp thing is a sham. I have pics from 6 years ago from 2 meg cameras that are better than those now set at 8mp.
I tried the Bullet Proof today and those 6 mp pics are ok but not really good. It actually has a pretty decent video option. My problem with the BP is you can't control intervals and will have a jillion pics over a deer census bait pile, most likely every 10 or 20 seconds.
My new biologist moved our census dates start from early August till Sept 1, based on paper by my former biologist who still recommended starting Aug 1. Confusing.

Not sure which model, but for $30 it's hard to go wrong.

The G42NG no glo infrared scouting camera. That's what I figured for $30--just get it and use it along with the others I have.

i got that one from Richard's when it was $10 cheaper. I have a larger version of that one that worked well. Will see how this mini works out this year.

I think AggieChemist has several of those, or a similar model so you might try to catch him.

My personal opinion is that I'd prefer to have the A-20 over the A-20i. ...and I don't own either model. But I say that because the "invisible" or "black flash" cameras tend to have a significantly shorter flash range than their non-invisible cousin.

If your camera is going to be in tight quarters that may actually be a good thing because deer that are very close to the camera won't reflect so much IR flash that it washes out the entire picture. ...on the other hand if you have an 80 foot trigger, and a 50 foot invisible flash you may get a helluva lot of "empty" pictures that arent' really empty. it's just that the i-flash isn't bright enough to illuminate the animal that is standing at 60 feet.

Been to 4 wal marts a few times in the last few weeks and can't find any of these deals.

I've been to about 8 in 6 different cities with no luck. I gave up.

The sale started on 7/26 and everything was wiped out in 1-2 days max.

I have one 888i and three A20i. They have been great cameras. We have used the 999i's for some research projects and they have been pretty solid in some harsh environments.

For those of you in the Southeast and Ohio valley areas, Bargain Hunt had some Browning cameras in some of their stores last week. I picked up three for $40 each, plus a Hornady ultrasonic brass cleaner for $100.
