I've primarily been a POC guy for most of my fishing life; but the Corporate office & I have recently decided t give this area a try. It's close enough to the beach for her and it seems to be close to some really great fishabe water (albeit water I am not the least bit familiar with). It seems to me that it is a different type of fishing than POC area, and that is a task that will be fun for sure, but I was hoping to gain any tips from y'all to maybe speed up my learning process.
The place we are staying is on a Canal in Flour bluff, so we basically enter the ULM at Bluffs landing marina. So far I have primarily fished the king ranch shoreline area and had mixed results. I have been primarily drifting; partially fishing and partially scouting the depth/bottom contour to get a better idea where to fish in the future (I also primarily fish alone; another reason I prefer drifting). I'm assuming this area I'm primarily poking for depth changes & potholes whereas in POC I personally liked to target drains on heavy tidal movement.
Regarding navigation: it seem shallow but it doesn't seem shallow enough to really be a concern until you get to the land cut, am I off base on this?
How's my plan so far? Any suggested tweaks from those familiar with the area? TIA
