New to pools. Have a chlorine system and am thinking of putting in a little shed on the side of house. However, the only place it will fit is pretty close to the outside ac units.

Any problems w that? Chlorine mostly what I'm worried about. Acid will be in garage.

At my old house I had a plastic cabinet I kept the pool stuff in and it worked well. New house a built a shed with a bunch of other stuff in it. I spilled a bit of granulated chlorine in the shed and a couple weeks later everything steel in the shed was covered in rust. Now I keep the buckets of chlorine outside by the pool pump.

He's not kidding. The chlorine will rust stuff fast. Lost some tools from them being too close.

I keep the chlorine buckets on the slab next to the pool pump, put the lid on tight when not in use.

I would not keep the acid in the garage. I keep mine in a small square deck box out by my pump. I have a salt system that I occasionally supplement with bleach and I store the bleach in my laundry room.

Plastic storage here as well. Don't leave anything metal in it.

Long term storage next to A/C. Not sure I would do that even though it would probably be safe in plastic shed. After a real heavy rain I dumped chlorine shock into pool. Left an empty bag in open bucket with the knife I used to open bag. Next time I needed to shock pool all I had left was plastic handle to knife and a pile of rust in bucket.

I wouldn't store any pool chemicals in the garage even acid. Years ago, we had to take my son's relatively new bike in for repair and the service guy said "you store pool chemicals in the garage right?" No chlorine either, just acid and a variety of other things. We have a plastic deck box behind the garage now where we store all the pool chemicals.

I store them outside in one of those plastic things. Last year I switched to bleach instead of pucks and my pool has never been better and my cya stays down. The link below saved me and ended the cycle of going to leslies to be told I needed to buy this or that.

Pay someone to handle the chemicals. Comes with free storage.

Just make sure to store the acid and chlorine separately.

This, I pay $69/month and the water is always perfect.

yeah, I'm going to pay someone to do the chemicals. However, I have some on hand in case I need to do it (and I bought a bunch not thinking it all the way though)

If you are worried about rust. I would recommend storing the chlorine tablets inside an airtight container. They also keep pretty well inside a jug of isopropanol or brake fluid...

Although if you try the second option, RUN...

+whatever on the small plastic deck box for acid. Do not store acid next to metal or chlorine. Also don't add acid at the same time as you add chlorine. I keep liquid chlorine aka bleach in the laundry room.

You can pay someone however much per month if you want. Issue with that is the cost (normally cost me about $10 or less a month to maintain my pool) & if the come every week or every two weeks a lot can happen over that time. More than likely they shock the pool every time they come which is probably not great for your equipment or your skin. The website troublefreepool is the way to go.
