I've had two EZ Up canopy tents crap out on me over the years. The tarp parts last, but the frames bend and break. They just don't stand up well to heavy wind or rain.

What brand of pop up canopy tents do you guys have that you would recommend? Is this something I should just get the cheapest one I can find because they are all crap and are going to break after 1 year of use anyways? Or is there one that's actually better and made to last?

I'm looking at 10x10 or possibly 12x12 size.

Thanks.

I've had a few over the years, but my current one is a "Commercial" 10x10 Z Shade, which I got for under $100. It's been pretty good, and is definitely heavier that the cheaper models. Owned for 2.5 years and made 3 or so beach trips, left out each night, 3-4 nights at a time.

I have a hard time paying much for one, since they get abused at the beach, and don't feel bad throwing it away.

We have found that you get what you pay for. Always try and get as commercial as possible. Tie it down properly. Be aware of the weather.

I think my current one is an EZ Up. It has probably seen 30-40 days on the beach. I'm pretty careful with it and clean it really well after every use and it's held up just fine. It does not take much to bend one and ruin one though.

We picked up one of these earlier this year and have used it about 6 times. It is a little lighter than the others and goes up more like a tent. 1st time up is a little weird but after that my 9 and 11 year olds put it together.

We have liked it so far and have used the walls also.

I do remember that heavy rain is an issue with it catching on the top of the tarp and breaking the poles.. We have had it in a downpour with no issue but could see it happening it your left it up for a day of rain.

Good thread. Had the usual Academy brand and usually pretty good luck considering the usage and conditions. This weekend the one we had for only a few uses had the plastic pull pin shear out on the inside so we couldn't release the leg back down, completely ruined.

Looking for something better now, that was very aggravating. I can take the extensions going out and rig something, but that pull pin blows.

After looking at a bunh of different ones on Amazon, I'm leaning toward buying this one. It seems to be heavier duty "commercial" model, and has good reviews. It also comes in several colors for those who care about that.

Great service policy but crazy expensive and need an outlet to setup. Not practical for the beach.
