I am watching the severe weather channel which goes to a bunch of live news coverages. They had the CC news crew on and they had the Port A mayor on the air. He said pioneer trailer park is 100% loss, marina is heavily damaged, 8 dead in the Rockport area.

All the coverage is in Houston and Galveston right now. It's windy and wet there right now. This concludes your update from Galveston and Houston.
We're about to drive to the West End of Galveston if possible. Any insights to road conditions would be helpful
I45 at 61st is flooded according to Darby Douglas.

I think the port a mayor should not say that until it's confirmed.

I'm starting to wonder if this may be the most underreported part of the storm. I know we're 4 days out from the end, but media loves negative and glosses over positive.
However, if Texas takes on a cat 4 storm with record flooding over a massive area and sees minimal casualties..... Then all emergency crews, county & state officials + the good will of the public to be safe is a story worth telling.
Im sure it's state pride talking, but I always like to think texas can handle natural disasters better than most, and I hope that shines through with Harvey
He mentioned it was not confirmed and for them to not share it...forgetting it was live TV. Said he heard it from county peoplemazzag said:
