That was before the eye wall touched. The winds are probably 20 mph stronger now with gusts approaching 110+. Them and Port A are getting it hard right now. In 30 minutes to and hour, they will be on the southern side of the eye wall.

Family is on the East side as well and are saying the same thing. Rain totals will stay low for you guys with the current position. Will increase when it starts heading this way.

Houston looking much better. For the record I got murdered on here for saying I thought this may happen.

Glad we are looking better.

Weather model data today has indicated that Harvey will stick around (though not in its current form) perhaps for the better part of a week, delivering periods of rain to the Houston area. It won't rain the whole time, and we may even see sunshine from time to time throughout this event. But you'll need to be prepared to deal with travel disruption, inconvenience, changing forecasts, and perhaps cabin fever in some cases. As said above, a marathon, not a sprint, and unfortunately we all have to participate.

Will there be a Harvey reborn Act II? Doubtful. Weather models have pulled back on the awful scenario depicted a couple times in recent days with Harvey hanging offshore as a hurricane or strong tropical storm. That would just compound an already terrible situation. We'll continue to watch, but that's not at the top of the list of concerns at the moment. Flooding and heavy rainfall tops the list.

Jeff is near the other Chasers in Rockport/Fulton.

You can see them on the map and watch their streams here https://livestormchasing.com/map (go to settings on that page and turn off all of the layers)

NM. Only three in the whole state, Dallas area, Houston and Beaumont.

compared to earlier? yeah we are. 15" is the most common number I see for most of the metro now.

earlier, terms like "biblical rainfall" were being used.

our outlook is still severe weather. But much better than earlier today.

This storm has really excited me for days. However, now I am getting a little sad about things. My parents own a condo at Port Royal and Port A has been something in my life for what seems like forever. I am sure the island is gone, and I know they will rebuild, but it won't be the same. My Son loves it, too.

I don't want to minimize anything. I wasn't looking forward to damage anywhere, I just like storms. It's not the direct hit. I really did expect that. First, I hope people are safe. Second, I don't even know what I am trying to articulate anymore. It's a very confused feeling.

You're both right. There was some real concern when the models began to converge with the Euro 'bounce out and reform' forecast. When the NHC agreed with this forecast I raised an eye brow, so did several meteorologist for major banks that trade oil and derivatives.

The latest update does provide some sense of relief but the rain is can be a disaster. They are forecasting a flood in Ft Bend greater than last years major. That is scary.

Unfortunately, NWS Houston just posted their rainfall forecast thru 8/31. Downtown Houston had 20+ inches. Sugar land 30"+. Areas north had declining values.

Edit.., Didn't see the NWS map above. That's what I was referencing.

Dude, as you can see by my history I rarely post. But your epic trolling job on display all day has compelled me to come out of the wood work and tell you to "with all due respect" GTFO.

There's nothing "looking" better about this situation when most of the Houston area is expecting 20"-30" of rain, and those who live southeast of us will have their lives changed forever.
