Put my window coverings up today in Aransas Pass. They are closing the sea wall gates tomorrow. Cleaning freezer/frig in the morning, then heading west.

Seems like one model shifts it south, then the next one shifts it back north
Brush Country

Wait, that is a drastic change with a lot of models looping it south into Mexico vs back out to water or up the coast to SE Tx.

Edit-I guess a lot of them are still looping it back to the coast, just much more southerly loops than earlier.

That looks like a GREAT model to me! Of course, I might have to float the Nueces back down rather than drive !

What's keeping it from staying the course up through DFW? Will we be getting a dome of high pressure. Doesn't seem to be present this summer

Front just blew through... made it past Austin, I dont think forecasters anticipated that. It is acting like a northern wall.

If that front blows to the coast this thong is going into old Mexico

Wrong. Fronts push storms to the east. That's why when cold front season kicks in Texas usually stops getting hit for the year.

Buddy in the Marines is having to fly a jet from NAS Corpus to Fort Worth in prep for the storm.

Last night Jim Spencer said that the front would merge with the storm

This front is not an West to east front. It is a due North to South and bowed.

The models are taking into account that by pushing it West and South to Mexico
Brush Country

There is no way that front is making it anywhere close to the coast.

Doesn't look like anything interesting for us, rain at most.
Just in case I'll collect up the loose stuff, and dig out the generator to see if it will crank.

Cold Front is South of San Antonio and is now a NE to SW line and not as much a North to South front anymore.

Aggie Mecca, but Ike taught us even if you don't get more than 50 mph wind some damaged transmission lines a long way away can leave you without power for weeks. There were rural folks around here that didn't get power restored for 3 weeks.

Good lesson. I picked up a decent sized Generac and a couple window units.

You should stick to your job. News in Austin just said that front is a non steering factor.

In his defense the 630 news in Austin said that it was. This just confirms they don't know anything more than any of us.

I was in Oak Forest without power for 3 weeks and that is hardly rural.

It's got to be a steering mechanism once it gets inland or the models would have it going straight into central Texas.

Maybe the confusion is that it won't be a steering mechanism until after landfall?
Charpie

Two high pressure systems on either side of the storm are going to keep it from moving much once it makes landfall, which is why this is going to be a massive rain event
