Morning, CW and I were looking into shooting and since eyeguy's shop is seemingly most recommended for the CS area, I wanted to see if anyone had a thought for a good place to start looking, talking, and shopping from a place of very little experience. Thanks for any thoughts and suggestions, and feel free to give me grief if necessary since it shouldn't be a new experience but is.

I'm partial to Saddle Rock Armory in Round Rock, right off 620. They were very helpful for my first AR build recently. They're knowledgeable and very friendly. My brother has purchased three pistols from them in the last year due in large part to their customer service.

I live in New Braunfels and have purchased my last 4 guns from Eyeguy/Texian. If you've never done an FFL transfer it's a very simple process

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm certainly not opposed to buying from Texian, but was hoping to find a place to go talk and touch/hold to find out about both handguns and potentially a rifle. I don't have much experience with either and wanted to learn as much as I could in addition to digging through old threads here for information.

GT is great but they don't have much selection for hunting rifles, if you're looking for tactical, they rule. If you're looking for hunting guns I'd look at McBrides or the Round Rock store listed above.

You can always decide which gun you want and order it from Eyeguy.

Hell, if you want to touch/hold a bunch of firearms, none of the smaller shops will have the wide selection that Bass Pro or Cabelas will have. Granted, you might not get the most informative or helpful salesman, but for sheer options to peruse, the big box stores will be great.
