The AR I built this winter doesn't fit in any of my current gun cases. If I remember right the OAL was just over or right at 40".

Been looking online some and something like this is what I'm thinking but curious what all the OB is using.

Depends on what I'm carrying and where I'm going. For day trips, most single guns go into soft sided cases. I have a few cheap hard sided cases for the guns that are too long to fit a soft case.

For overnight trips, flights, or times when the guns need to be more secure, I have a Pelican 1750 with several sets of custom cut foam. I can fit 4 rifles and a few pistols in it securely.

I bought one of these Plano tactical cases from Academy and love it. Tough, well built, and it holds 2 ARs with scopes.

I have a couple versions of both, but paid less because of sales. Look to SlickGuns (now guns.deals) for when they drop about twenty bucks. If I recall, I bought two of each version for less than $300 delivered.

I have a Pelican 1750 because I want to build a second upper and store both (with optics on) in one case. Looking at getting my dad the Pelican 1720.

Also, here's a thread to check out as well:

Pelican cases and the like are too ****ing heavy. I use soft cases most of the time, occasionally use the cheap plastic cases that come with the guns. I go to quite a few matches a year and have to carry my crap into the hotel room every night after a full day at the range so an extra 25 lbs (Pelican 1750) is a lot.

When I fly I just use a hard sided Samsonite F'lite suitcase with my guns broken down in soft cases inside. It weighs half of what a Pelican does and I can get a rifle, shotgun, pistol and some accessories in it while staying under 50 lbs and under size restrictions.

It'll fit 4 16" ARs with optics. I don't have a picture with the ARs loaded, but I usually transport them broken down with lowers on the bottom layer of foam and uppers on the top. The lid of the case has additional foam you can cut if you're strategic with your accessory (suppressors/magazines) placement. Alternatively, if I want to transport ARs fully assembled, I have a long soft sided gun case that holds 4 16" guns . This fits perfectly in the 1750 with the foam removed.

This is exactly why I have so many soft cases. The 1750 only comes out if the guns need to be locked up at my destination or if I'm flying. Either way, soft cases go with me too for transport to/from rooms, cars, etc. The 1750 is a heavy SOB and gets lots of attention. The questions I get hauling it through rental car terminals are interesting. Most frequently people think it's some kind of guitar or bass.

Been looking more and I definitely like the price of something like this more.

Have one. Not overly happy with it. It doesn't hold it's shape well under the weight of two weapons/accessories/etc. Even using the internal velco, my weapons shifted when moved from being stood up, carried, laid on the bottom seam, and laid flat on its side. Little to no padding for protection of optics.

Similar as the Condor if not a little worse because of the larger pouches. To me, that rigid hard cases are better for transporting multiple weapons and then use the smaller cases for transport to/from your housing.

Just my $.02.

I have a lot of just skinny cases that I prefer over breaking out my dual weapon bags.

I have a cheap UTG case very similar to this that I bought probably 15 years ago. I haven't had any problems with it. I don't generally like molle on the outside of cases. It's pretty tacticool. If you're ok only carrying 2 rifles, you might look at the Comp-Tac Trojan Horse which fits 2 rifles and accessories. I have a couple. They're a bit bulky but well padded and fairly discrete.

This is the double rifle UTG. It'll hold 3 in a pinch. (Before someone asks, yes, I store my rifle cases in my office bathtub )

Cabela's makes a nice hardcase that you can get for fairly cheap when they run their sales on them.
CharlieBrown17

I can see the "tacticoolness" but at the end of the day it'll just go to the range and land to shoot so it doesn't really bother me if it works.

The case you linked looks nice but I need at least 40" interior

Actually ended up doing this.

They're on sale right now and I had a gift card I had forgot about, so I got a double and a single hard shell for 140 after gift card

If you aren't flying, I had a golf bag soft case from... Golfdaddy I think? Which held 3 of the really cheap Dasko cases, plus lots of stuff in the pockets.

I lived next to some nosy, crazy folks in Houston, and used that to wheel my stuff in and out.
