My Glock 19 Gen 4 is still pretty new. I have only shot about 200 rounds through it. I was cleaning it after a recent trip to the range, and I noticed some small dents in the slide as well as damage to the polymer parts of the frame that are near the slide when the gun is assembled. The strangest polymer damage is near the trigger bar (last pic shown below). It's like there are some loose flaps of polymer there that I can move around.

Is any of this a concern, or is my Glock good to go?

I just pulled mine out of the bedside safe and gave it a close inspection. It doesn't show any similar wear and tear (Looks perfect actually) with at least twice that many rounds through it

Hmm. I googled "glock slide dents" and discovered something called glock slide peening. Anybody else experience this or something similar?

This is my G26 with ~500 rounds through it. Cut up polymer on the front rail like yours.



This picture shows my G19 up top w/around 12k rounds and the G26. The G19 has the same "damage" around the trigger bar. Reach out to Glock if you're concerned, but I wouldn't be worried. That G19 spent several years as a machine gun and still goes boom every time the trigger is pulled with no issues.

None of my Glocks look like that, including my G17 that probably has well over 10K rounds through it.

Id find the wife's emery board and file that burr off and forget about it. I have a Sig that has some wierd wear marks and dings after 20 rounds. It still shoots fine, I'd say its just the tolerance in that particular weapon that is causing it and its part of the normal break in and wear down.

Are you sure this didnt look like that straight out of the box? After looking at mine and your picture, I don't think that's from shooting so much as sloppy inspection at the factory. I don't have the same gen as you so my glocks look a little different. If they aren't SUPPOSED to look different, then the parts on mine are bevelled and slotted in the areas yours are showing 'damage'.

I've got a couple thousand rounds through my G19, and no wear like that.

To the people who aren't seeing any wear like mine, what is the hottest ammo you've shot? My last 100 rounds or so have been Speer Lawman 124 gr TMJ.

Besides all sorts of cheap plinking ammo, I've also shot 124 gr and 147 gr Speer Gold Dots through mine.

Cool. The empty holster protests were big when I was a student, and I remember a big issue was how to secure them in the dorms. Is the safe provided free of charge? Or does the University rent them?

OP, I have 8 or 10 G34s that all have in excess of 15,000 rounds each. The wear you are seeing is normal and nothing to worry about.

You also need to lube your pistol a little better, its way too clean!

You can rent or buy the safe. If I wasn't a senior this year I would bought it but renting turned out to be easier for just a year

I had just cleaned it in those pics. I also use eezox for cleaning/lubing/protecting. It's a dry lube.

I carry Speer 124gr +P Gold Dots and have probably shot 1000 rounds just of those. I wouldn't worry about what you're seeing on your gun. I probably would file it down though just so it's not catching on cleaning wipes.

If I remember I'll take a pic of my G17 later and post it for comparison. It's possible mine is the same way and I've just never noticed, but I don't think so.

Pic below as promised. 11 year old G17 with at least 10K rounds through it (maybe even twice that...hard to say). I'm not seeing the same wear on this gun or any of my other Glocks, but it's still not something I'd worry about.
