Found this on the brick border around one of our flower beds. There is a bird feeder in that flower bed but I've never seen any bird turds this big other than turkey scat. Bottle cap for size reference.

Duck?

I live a few miles from the nearest lake and probably 1.5 miles from nearest pond that I've seen ducks on. Plus, I haven't seen any ducks around my yard or the neighborhood. No feathers around either.

Going to sound odd, but dove. White-wing or collared.

Although I do not have a pond within a mile or two of me, I have been seeing a lot of black-bellied whistling ducks flying around and perching on power lines in my north Houston neighborhood.

Look up "Nature Trackers dove scat", it's often bigger than people would imagine.

African-American dove is the preferred nomenclature.

Wow. Ursus really knows his crap!
I was gonna reply that I've never seen any whitewing or ringneck dove around here. We do have a pair of Mourning dove that nest in our tree every year. But this morning I went outside and there was a big fat whitewing sitting by the bird feeder.

Actually certified on the matter. Doing my tracking/sign identification certification course was one of the most fun (and painful--had emergency eye "surgery" about 30 minutes before flying to the Valley) experience I had while with TPWD.

Plus I had 12 years of doing dove surveys.
