Tires on the truck were low, as were the boat trailer tires (15-70 degree swings will do that to you). I drove to the first gas station (notice I didn't say "SERVICE STATION" as those apparently no longer exist) and their "FREE AIR" dispenser wasn't working. I diagnosed it as a kaput compressor. It was on and running, but there was no air pressure.
Drove 3 miles to the next gas station and there was a hole in their "FREE AIR" dispenser hose.
Drove 2 miles to gas station #3 and their pay air station was out of order.
Drove 7 miles to gas station #4 and paid $1.50 twice to air up four tires on my truck. The boat was still in the garage riding on 11 lbs.
Drove 1.5 miles to Lowe's, said F*** THIS, and bought an air compressor. Went home, filled up the boat at my leisure, and then sat in the garage drinking bourbon and smiling. F*** "FREE AIR", lines, idiots, and takers that break **** because they have no skin in the game.
Also, F*** the market forces that drove the little guy service station 1 mile from my home out of business. He had 150 psi air, free 24 hrs a day, and was always willing to poke around under your hood or put your truck up on the lift to diagnose a problem, even if he couldn't fix it himself. Wouldn't take a dime of your money if he didn't do the work. He got bought out and bulldozed for a 14 hour unmanned Kroger gas station.
... with no air.
