By the way, I stopped in the credit union the other day and they just happened to have a couple of 1976 bicentennial Eisenhower silver dollars. It's not '44, but I was born in '76 so I pulled the trigger on those. I will leave one when I am able to make a return trip. I will take pictures and post back here and bump this thread. It will probably be into April before the weather breaks and we get some decent weather.

FYI, "Buzz One Four" is a new documentary on Amazon Prime. Just watched it.

I did a little google research and it appears that silver dollars were not minted in 1944. I wonder if it was actually a half dollar? If so, there are many available on Ebay and I would be happy to buy one and send it to you to place there, if we can find out that this is what he actually carried.
