No one is going to send you a letter saying you have money...unless, they are searching, finding your name, finding your address, then sending you a letter....all for a finders fee. ANY business, gov agency, etc that owes somebody something turns it over to the state. The state will basically hold it forever or until claimed. IF you get a letter from somebody, just search for your self on the state site. You will have to fill out a form with name address and social security number. The ss number is where the state does the verification. Frost Bank has 10k for someone with my exact same first name last name and middle initial....unfortunately it is not me.

Found me a whopping $26.56. Also found $950 for a deceased uncle but there are too many heirs involved to mess with.

I found $264 owed to my company from when I advertised through YellowBook in 2007, but it looks like I will not be able to claim the $$. One of my employees (now ex-employee) was the one that actually rented the PO Box that was used for the address and I reimbursed them for the cost of the PO Box. I can't prove that the address was mine, so the $$ goes unclaimed.

When i helped my son make a claim for an apartment he had in college, we had to get an old utility bill or lease to prove he lived at that residence.
