I second the kevlar recommendation. If you go late July, early August, the mosquitoes have burned out some and aren't as bad. We went this past July and the only time the mosquitoes were bad were at dusk until 8:30-9:00 pm (while cooking dinner). After that, they literally disappeared, every night. I believe it was the 50-60 degree temps that drive them back down and we would spend the later evenings looking at the Northern Lights, satellites, and stars.
***DO THIS*** 2-3 days before you go, saturate and let dry your clothes in the product below. It's less toxic on your skin and we all agreed that it was more effective than DEET:

The largest fish were caught trolling various colors of rattle traps behind the canoe. I caught several small mouth bass that were 3-4 lbs but fought like a 7-8 lb bass. Had some good luck throwing topwater - torpedos, frogs, and other freshwater topwater lures. Also broken-back floating crank baits worked really well.
One thing I wish I would have done was bring a small scuba mask to swim around with. The water was incredibly clear.
Finally, you're making a good decision to use a private outfitter. Although we enjoyed the BSA trip, there are a ton of dumb rules that are ignored by some of the guides but strickly enforced by others. Luckily, we had a chilled guide.
