Few questions for you guys:

I am looking to purchase a gun safe and I am pretty positive I am going to go with a Liberty. I would like to stay around the $1200-1400 range.

I am looking at the Liberty Timber Ridge 64 through Gander Mountain because they have a rebate going on which seems like a pretty good deal. It is on sale for $1399 off original $1699 price with what appears to be an ADDITIONAL $400 mail in rebate with liberty making the safe $999!

However, they are hitting me up with a $250 freight fee for curbside delivery and not giving me a ship to store option. Will this be the case with any dealer?

Does anybody already have the Timber Ridge Model? If so, what are your thoughts?

Thoughts on mechanical versus electrical lock type?

Thanks in Advance!

No experience with them, but it looks like (based on their specs) that it is in their budget line of safes.

Couple of things I noticed:

1. Lock bolts on only 2 sides of the door, and the top side of the door only has 1 bolt. Odds are that will be more than enough, but it was something I noticed.
2. 12 gauge shell is pretty thin. Remember that almost every single safe out there uses mild steel for a shell. They are designed to be hard to open from the front only. Just something to keep in mind.

Electronic versus mechanical - if you are getting into your safe fairly frequently, an electronic is easier for access. Just make sure it's not some cheap Chinese knock off of an electronic lock, and change your batteries once a year. I really wanted mechanical on mine when I bought it, but it wasn't offered, or would have been special order anyway. I rather like the electronic lock I have. Mechanical locks look better, and if you get the ones with key overrides you can set it up for fairly quick access.

Most places do offer pick up at store, but I'm guessing that they don't carry this one in stock and it comes from their warehouse - so you get curbside or delivery options only. It's easier on them. Makes the discount not as lucrative.

If you are around the Houston area go to Moore Security. I bought my liberty safe there. He's a veteran, very knowledgeable on all lines of safes, and installed an electric keypad on my safe as well.

I have a Liberty Fatboy Jr and love it. I have the electronic lock.
