BTW.... UPS,USPS, and FedEx has seen it all when it comes to claims fraud. This is why they may appear to be pretty tough or demanding if you get into a shipping claim. A young crook trying to defraud UPS any number of ways will probably not get away with it.

Not trying to pick a fight with actually knowledgable people. Just giving one layman's perspective.

It just irritates me that every where you go to ship charges extra to confirm delivery. It just seems like that should be implied. I pay you to do a task. But then you offer an additional fee to make sure you do that task? Just seems odd.

Perhaps your perspective is off. If you ship anything eith a tracking number, can can view when it was delivered.

Confirmation of delivery is asking the shipper to take additional steps, most of the time getting a signature, which incurs additional cost to them (how mnay times have you not been home to sign for a "signature required " package, forcing the delivery company to make multiple delivery attempts?) I personally hate packages that are signature require and hope those are only shipped FedEx because I can more easily go to the FedEx store after redirecting my package.

UPS has that too. They primarily use the 4500+ UPS Stores that are primarily in U.S. metropolitan areas. But they also have the option to have anywhere else as a designated "Access Point". It can be a Comet Cleaners, or a convenience store!

Once the package is determined undeliverable.... usually signature required and nobody is home..... the driver initiates a re-route to the Access Point and the customer has to pick it up there.

I get about 8 Access Point packages a day.

It always seems that UPS wants to charge me to hold at a UPS store...

If I am shipping some sort of dried plants like maybe a bag of oregano, should I insure it for the wholesale value (what it cost me) or the retail value (what it cost my client?)

We have probably the worst UPS driver on the planet. He refuses to deliver packages to my door. Instead, he leaves stuff by the garage door. If I happen to have the overhead door open, he will come inside the garage and will knock on the door, but refuses to walk around to the front door.

He's delivered 9 boxes to my neighbor to the south since January. Our mailbox has the house number on it and he still screws it up. He has actually argued with me in person that he didn't take the package to the wrong house as my neighbor was carrying them over to me.

Anyone with connections within UPS have some advice to get some action? I've spoken with his "manager" twice and no improvement so far.

But thats the point of insurance is it not?

I can buy more coverage for my life, or more coverage for my car than some arbitrary value.

It's no different from firearm insurance or something like that. You may buy a firearm insurance policy for $15K, but if all your guns get stolen the insurance company isn't going to just cut you a check for $15K. You're going to have to prove to them the value of what was stolen. The $15K is the maximum they'll pay. Not the minimum.

Regarding my package that showed up back at my house after two weeks while still showing never picked up from the UPS store. Since I am not worried about the stuff anymore, do I have a reasonable case to approach the UPS store for a refund on the shipping cost?

Definitely. If the UPS Store created the label, contact that store and make them file a claim for the shipping charges.

Disclaimer ... if I understood your post correctly!

Jtp01.... as huge as UPS is it is unlikely that someone on Texags can personally find the manager for that driver unless Mookie just happens to work at a hub in the same city.

Call 1-800-742-5877 and press 0 (zero) to get an actual person. Tell them you have a "customer concern" about your driver. They will write it up and send the customer concern to that drivers manager.

The UPS managers take customer concerns serious.

That said your driver may just be a lazy POS who is further protected by his union. So good luck getting better service from that same driver. UPS will move him with enough customer concerns.

Allen76. That is the info I needed. Where I can make the correct complaint.

It just amazed me that he would argue with me as the neighbor brought the delivery over to me with him standing there. Then just gets in his truck and speeds off. Admittedly. I was not happy and called him on the carpet for his bs antics, but at least acknowledge that he didn't deliver where he said he did.

You can imagine that they are trained to get the heck out of there and go do their job instead of fighting with customers.

They are watched pretty closely in regard to time worked and number of pickups, etc. We have all seen the UPS driver pull into a small parking lot and park right in the driveway, sometimes blocking cars, and run in and do their job and run back out. They really have no other choice as there is no parking space for them anywhere near their pickup point. I don't know if they are "formally" trained that way in writing, but that is the only way they can get all their work done in the time allowed.

Well, it seems the previous driver was terminated Thursday and we have a new driver. Friday I was in my office and the new driver showed up, I happened to see him through the office and since I was expecting some stuff from Amazon, I went to meet him so I wouldn't be left on the driveway.

I went downstairs and through the garage and he wasn't there, he was delivering the package to the front door. I caught him on his way back to his truck. "Hello Mr. jtp, how are you this afternoon? I'm Jeff, your new UPS guy. Where would you prefer I leave packages if you aren't here?" We talked for a couple of minutes and I explained I was happy for a change, that's when he told me the old driver was asked to resign or be terminated.

I told him about the kids on our road and would appreciate some extra care coming in and out. "I'd rather get done 20 minutes later and not ever have to worry about hurting a kid, I'm a father too. I can make my schedule up on the highway, and in the longer trips between deliveries ". I've gotta say, he left out driving quick, but not like a bat out of hell.

Received a check in the mail from UPS today. I have to give UPS credit. I didn't think I'd ever get my money once this process started, but it only took 5 weeks from the original ship date.

Good News-

UPS does not make money losing or damaging packages or pissing off customers

Glad you were properly reimbursed

Glad it worked out for you.

Now I wonder what happens to the gun if they ever find it.

I am pretty positive the gun was stolen by a UPS employee.

Do you sense that they're pretty positive of that as well?
