Did you park & camp right by a road? Curious how you chose the actual camp site. Also any worries about someone messing with your stuff while you are away? Congrats on a successful hunt!

We didn't intend to camp so close to a road, but that's just how it worked out. We had a few general areas we wanted to hunt, but you can only do so much on Google Earth, so we drove through them on the first day to check everything out. Once we decided on the area, we found a good place to pull off and set up camp. There were lots of access, trails, and camping areas to be found.

I was a little worried about our stuff while we were out all day, but we were able to set up camp where it wasn't visible from the road. We were also able to see our campsite from our glassing position, although if someone were to start rummaging around, it would have taken us 20-30 minutes to get down there.

You know, in the heat of being out there and cleaning him, I didn't cape him out. Somehow I reasoned that I was young and would have lots of opportunities to shoot one that's more of a "trophy".

I've been regretting it a little bit ever since, but it will still make a great Euro mount. Plus, I have a whitetail at the taxi right now, and wasn't crazy about doubling my stuffed animal bill.

That bill don't play. Besides he would have just been a placeholder for the backpack alpine muley that's inevitable now.

Yep. The 197" muley I mentioned that my buddy shot was in the CO high country and in full velvet. It's an awesome mount.

I've got to figure out a way to sell my wife on five weeks of mountain hunts this year. In my mind if I can make enough money to justify a month of jacking around it'll be a rough sell, but doable. Unless she's like eight months pregnant. Then I will happily amend my petition to one week.

If you could figure out a way to annoy her enough that she's happy you're gone for a month but not so much that she goes off poontangin with show folk while you're gone... You should do that.
