Looking to buy an AK with some gift cards I got over the holidays. Gander mountain has Century Arms on sale but I've always heard stay away from them. Anyone have one and would recommend?

Yes, Gander Mountain exclusively but at that price I would pay cash and save gift cards for another purchase. Do you have a link?

the link you posted is a fine entry level ak. it'll cycle anything. it'll go bang and it'll be very cheap / fun to shoot. if thats what you're looking for then thats a good route. you can also find that particular model on the street for 450-500 bucks.

i have a c39v2. milled receiver, which i've always been a fan over stamped receivers. the c39 also has better furniture in my opinion.

i'm sure some of the more knowledgeable AK folks will chime in soon.

I have one and have never been disappointed with it.

AK's were made to be cheap Century Arms AK's are just fine. P

The biggest problem with century arms were canted front sights and things like that. Being able to manually inspect will overcome most of their issues.

I've had good experience with their customer service personally. My first century ak wouldn't cycle correctly. I gave them a call and returned it to the manufacturer. Had a replacement in hand 2 weeks later with some extra mags.

I just went through a pretty long process of researching AK's. Ended up buying a PSAK-47. The three that I narrowed it down to were the WASR-10, Yugoslav NPAP, or PSAK. It sucks, but the Commies just flat out make/made a better and cheaper AK than we can today in the USA. My next purchase will be a WASR most likely. I also think you will see prices fall pretty dramatically over the next 6-12 months because Hillary didn't get elected.

Dad has one of these. I don't know how it compares to other AKs but the furniture on his is really pretty. Have had it been pretty selective with ammo but once we figured out what it likes it works like a charm.

I wouldn't fool with century unless you can inspect it before you buy. Should be fine at gander.
