I rely on you guys for good, honest information. I am going to buy a new Sig P226 legion, but I'm torn between the da/sa and the sao model. This will not be a carry gun (I carry a shield w/safety). It will be a range/target and maybe a nightstand gun. I've never owned a 1911, my pistols I use the most are M&P's with safeties. I know you keep these sao pistols in a locked and cocked mode like a 1911. And I've been shooting pistols and revolvers for 50+ years. Opinions?

I'm not sure what you're asking?

I've done da/sa, striker fired, sao.

SAO is going to be hard to beat when it comes to a good trigger, generally. The nicest triggers on any pistols I've shot have all been SAO.

If you're worried about learning to use the safety, practice practice practice.

I love SAO pistols, especially for what you are wanting it for.

For what you are asking I agree with a single action 1911.

I have DAO pistols that I like.

Have a couple of DA/SA pistols left. I just can't get used to them.

Yeah, I'm old....

Yes I can see my question was a little vague. I guess what I'm asking is will I be disappointed with the da/sa trigger vs the sao trigger. I know the triggers on both will be good as they're legions. There are soooo many reviews on the net and YouTube it becomes mind numbing.

If you're a revolver guy I doubt da/sa is going to bother you much.

But if you've never tried a SAO you should at least once.

Worst case scenario you cal always try to trade your SAO for a DA/SA Legion or vice versa if you dislike whichever you choose, because I'm sure someone somewhere will have made the opposite decision and want to trade.

For a range/target gun (as you stated) -- SAO every day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

Not that I would buy a Sig, mind you..........

Are you sure it's SAO? Or is it Double Action Kellerman (DAK)? Big difference between these two.

I'm not a fan of Sig's SAO, and they are pretty rare. If it's not going to be a carry gun, and you're buying a Legion, DA/SA all the way.

Never mind, I see Sig's marketing page, it is SAO not DAK.

I would still probably go DA/SA, but that's personal preference.

I would suggest renting a DA/SA pistol at champion to see what you think first. Totally depends on what you trained on and what your preferences are. I grew up a 1911 and browning hi-power guy, so for me I prefer 1911 style set ups w external safety carried on condition 1 - round in chamber, cocked, safety on. I haven't trained enough w DA/SA to get used to difference in trigger pull, so I'm actually in the market for a 226 SAO but doesn't have to be a legion for me. If you buy a SAO legion and don't care for it let me know I'll buy it!

SAO legions are HARD to find. Sick triggers, though. I've had about 20 legions roll through the store. Only one has been SAO.
