While I have had many hunting vehicles over the years, I have never had one done "right". I saw some of the work done by Luke @ Twilight Metal Works in Manor, Tx and was impressed. I got on his list late this past summer and finally Luke is ready to get started on my new hunting rig.
I thought this topic might be of interest to the outdoor board, so I plan on keeping you updated on the progress.
Luke will be using my 2009 Jeep Wrangler unlimited as the foundation of the project. I will use the rig both at my lease in South Texas and at my ranch in central Texas so it must be easy to tow back & forth. The goal is to have a vehicle that can seat 6 comfortably in the shade plus have removable quail seats on the front for hunting season. We will use it for quail hunting, deer hunting, booze cruising as well as being the "ranch vehicle" for various duties on the place. It will need space for my bird dogs, coolers, feeder, gun storage, water for the dogs, trash, etc. We are also going to need space for tool storage as well as spare tire & jack. We plan on keeping it street legal with flip up windshield and mirrors.
It should be a fun project and I can't wait to see what they come up with. With any luck, Luke will have it done around Thanksgiving.
I took the hard top & doors off the jeep and took it to Twilights shop today. Here is the "before" picture.
