Dad just moved out towards Highland Haven, any suggestions on tactics for LBJ? Will be fishing there the first time this weekend and I'll be all over the lake in my yak next summer.

Be careful going all over the lake in a yak next summer. The boat and water flea traffic is tremendous.

My grandfather lived in HH when I was in grade school. I'd spend 2.5-3 weeks there every summer. We always walked and fished the docks and at night we would fish for catfish with cut shad or cut perch. We ran trot lines as well. We would also go fish for crappie at a few brush piles he had over near camp champions.

My uncle is a big time bass fisherman and usually fishes the docks and drop offs in the evening. I've been a few times but if I'm "fishing" for bass I prefer a farm pond.

Listen, watch and learn from the others on the Lake or at marina, plenty of folks willing to tell you more than you want to learn.. A boat is a big help. Kayak at Slick Rock or Sandy creek. Limited elsewhere. As discussed above, lots of traffic on warm weekends. Never had any trouble catching fish out here.

I will be on the lake tomorrow afternoon hunting bass. Docks, humps and breaks off of shore lines are our best spots. Summer boat traffic is a nightmare, so be careful in your yak. Up the Llano or Colorado is typically pretty good with less traffic especially past the rocks. Like the previous post, I have fished the lights off of docks at night with a tandem rig of small jigs with good success on multiple species such as white bass, black bass, Guadalupe bass and crappie.

Yeah I'll definitely be running a flag most of the time and plan to avoid weekends. Dad has a bow rider but I'll probably do most if not all my fishing from the yak.

Looking forward to learning the lake, usually call rivers home when fishing.

When you find the honey holes, post up and the rest of us yakers will join you.
