Does anyone have info on this boot company? Has anyone had/have boots from them? Opinions? TIA

Might be worth it to post on Panhandle/South Plains board.

I'll be watching for any info on Becks. I've been contemplating custom boots for a while

They are well made boots. They are now basically an assembly line, used to one person made a pair of boots. Still great quality, very comfortable, just a little pricey fore me and takes a while to get them made. I now use Manuel Medina, he used to work for Panhandle Leather. He made mine in just over a month and I only paid $395, wore them in a feed yard everyday for over a year, i've had them for 3 years now and haven't had any problems.

I've had two pair of them and wore them back when I was day working and riding horses on a regular basis. They are made out of extremely tough materials, fit really well, and they're not as expensive as most reputation handmade boots. They look good, but not as sharply detailed and intricate as other handmade boots I have. Basically, they're rougher made and look like work boots, which is what they're intended to be.

One of the owners, Harry Beck, told me that they make a boot for Monday through Friday, and people like Leddy's make a boot for Saturday night and Sunday. In other words, if you're expecting dress boots you probably don't need to order a pair of Beck's.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. As their site states their boots are "Boots Hand-Made for the Working Cowboy". I am going up there in a couple of weeks with a friend to pick up his boots he ordered a few months ago. I was thinking I might be able to find a pair off the shelf. Not specifically hand-made for me, but I am guessing still hand-made. His will be more "dressier" than a "work boot". He was able to pick out the leather for the uppers and vamp, color for both, stitching, sole, heal, toe, etc. (as with any full custom boot I guess). We will see. I was curious if anyone has had them and if they felt they were a good buy.

I might come back with a pair and I might not (of boots that is). Thanks again for the input.

As far as I know they make a quality boot. My Dad and brother both have a pair of custom made and stock boots. Dad still has both of his boots, but doesn't wear them as often because his feet have gotten bad and won't allow for it. He stills breaks them out for days spent horseback, but that's about it. My brother went through his first pair and had them rebuilt, they did a solid job on the reconstruction. A buddy of mine has a stock pair of rough-out that he really likes. Says they've held up really well. Be sure to have them explain the size chart if you do get a stock boot bc standard sizing and beck sizing are not the same.

Not the same Medina. The guy I use is in Amarillo. 806-729-4587. Hard to understand, he mainly speaks Spanish but I was able to get by (a couple times he had one of his friends call me so we could actually have a full conversation). I'm probably going to order another pair very soon.

I had Beck make me boots about three years ago. Very easy to work with and they are very comfortable. I'd buy again from them.

Those are nice. I would have no problem wearing those.

I love my Beck's. I have a custom pair that I got back in 2009. I've had the heel taps replaced once. I also have an off-the-shelf pair of Beck's that were my daily boots when I worked in a feedlot in grad school.

My husband currently has 3 custom pairs and 1 pair of stock boots ( all Beck). He also threw away a pair that he'd worn to death, they repaired and patched twice but finally gave in to hours of being in mama cow manure.

Good boots, good folks. The guy running it now has Aggie ties and is a good person.

I had a pair of Becks 15 years ago and really liked them. There's been quite a few Beck customers now order from Bustamante in Amarillo. I believe he quit Beck a few years ago and does a nice job.

Well, I survived Lubbutt. I was able to find a pair on the shelf (their in house selection is not extensive). They were not exactly what I was looking for, but felt good right away and will be fine as a work boot once I receive my second pair. I would post pictures of mine and my brother n law's (his are complete custom - $$$), but I don't use an image account thingy.

Canyon - what leathers (tops and vamps) are your boots and did you purchase them under the "cowboy special", or are they complete custom? I am guessing a complete custom since you have the A&M on the tops.

To clarify - we stayed in Lubbock with some friends and drove to Amarillo to Beck's to get the boots.
