Probably a dumb question, but this came with an upper/lower receiver set. What the crap is it?

Don't recognize it and don't really see it on an expanded diagram.

That, my friend, a Carbine Lead Integration Tube. It's a small, yet important, part that most guys never seem to realize is there. However, it is crucial to the smooth functioning of the system. It has to do with the lubrication of the internals and helps keeps the over function of the system running well. Sometimes, extra lubing is required but it all depends on your unique rifle. Obviously, most of the guys on the thread have never seen or played with one.

EyeGuy's response said a lot but didn't seem to really say anything. Other than if you have experience with ARs then you should know. Ohhh K...... I understand every word he wrote but have no clue what he said.

EyeGuy is wise beyond his years. I've had my current AR for over 18 years, and I can tell you that if you don't pay enough attention to the C.L.I.T., eventually the system will just shut down on you. Any of you guys that have gotten blue bearings in your parts bag can attest to this.

AC if you lubricate the C.L.I.T. with your tongue before shooting both you and your range partner will be happier.

Don't baby the C.L.I.T you need to be a little rougher than you think in most cases. Definitely a trial and error exercise.

That would make it one strange Church...

My only guess is a tube to attach the grip screw and your screwdriver/hex wrench so you can more easily tighten it and find the hole in the receiver. Engineer's guess.
