As has been stated a couple of times already, if there is a chance your career will take you out of state, it makes it much more worth it (if you still plan to come back to Texas to hunt or fish). Besides, it goes to a good cause. Back when I bought mine the lifetime hunting license was just $300. Still kick myself for not getting the lifetime fishing as well.
i wish I'd bought at 1k several years ago. Buying when I return home from OOS is expensive.

I bought the lifetime hunting license around 10 years ago. Then it was only $600 (it was $1000 for the combo). No need for the fishing license since I usually take customers fishing every year and the company pays for it. I wouldn't buy any lifetime license at the current rates. Not worth it.

This makes no sense at all. If you take customers fishing and you fish you still need a license...

Company pays for the license. Sorry, "it" was actually referring to the license in my previous statement. I didn't say that very clearly since they do pay for the fishing trip too.

Bought mine at 1k. Probably would not buy at today's price.

If I could of afforded it a 1000 for both it would of been no question. Now that I could afford it the price is up to where it's hard to rationalize

If i was 18 again it would be with it, but not at 33

Question- if you expect the recipient (and current Texas resident) of the lifetime license will be out of state or become a nonresident and travel back annually to hunt doesn't this make more sense to buy the lifetime?

With the non-resident license being over $300 now, I think you could definitely make the argument for the lifetime license. Especially if you use it over 7+ years
