nothing to hide on my background, but I don't want Hillary to know. All my guns have been hand me downs or sales from friends.

Just stick to private sales rather than buying from an FFL. Any private sale is "off the books"

Go to a gun show and look for a "loophole" sign. Buy there.

Buy it at any gun store, all it will read on the nics check is long rifle. Or buy a lower and let me build you one.

Do you really believe that? I get that there may not be specifics input, but I highly doubt the feds don't know what you bought

The answer to your question is just to buy one from an individual. Texasguntrader.com or here on this board or the Classifieds forum are good places.

I've had good experiences here and on the gun trader site.

Not to sound like a billy badass or anything, but I don't really care if the govt knows that I have an AR. If they are illegal I'll take pride in the fact that I'm one of the people Hillary considers a problem.

Furthermore, if she and her people decide to
Come get them, I'll be happy to greet them at the door.

Again, I know it sounds like a arrogant and outlandish thing so say, but if the government decides to consider me a criminal for exercising my constitutional right then decides to come and forcibly take those rights from me, I'll gladly put up a good fight before being taken out defending something I so strongly believe in. The left has been pushing hard working Americans for too long and are actively trying to start a fight. They try this bull**** and they'll certainly get one

You could build one using an 80% lower.

They don't have to actually take the gun. All they have to do is charge you with several federal felonies. Most Americans would lose their jobs once they're slapped with a felony. Assuming you have a family to support, I doubt you would put a $1k AR over being able to keep food on the table.

I don't agree with it, but that's the way the Democrats are going to win without any shots being fired.

Better buy one from a seller that doesn't keep credit card or shipping records. BATFE has already gone down this road.

Those are a giant PITA for 90% of us, though. How many of us have the tools necessary to do it right?

There's an older gentleman who's a family friend in my town. He knows that I've built rifles for friends and family and he's always asking me to build him a rifle "that the government can't find". To him, that means "no serial number". He's like 70+ y/o and thinks the government has him targeted. I just tell him to buy from a private seller but he insists the government will find out.

It's not about a $1k rifle.

It's about the constitution. My issue is with tyranny and the complete and total disregard for the constitution. My wife and I have actually had this conversation as well. She has a tendency to roll her eyes, but I told her that there are things that require a man I stand up for what he believes in. If it ever comes to it, and I doubt it ever will, this will be one of those events for me

True. I am lucky enough to have a good amount of tools available to me and am always looking for reasons to justify the purchase of more.

Unfortunately all my guns sank to the bottom of the lake in an unfortunate boating accident, but I may know a guy that has an unfired Stag.

They're not going to come to your house and take them. That would be stupid even they know that. They'll make it illegal to have one out in public. If you get pulled over with one you go to jail for ten years. You'll never be able to have it in your truck or take it to the range and shoot it. First it will be high cap mags. Then "assault rifles", then semi automatics. That's how it will go down.

Glad people are finally starting to realize this. All of the "cold dead hands" stuff is tiresome. No one is going to do a *********thing.

You may be right, but part of gun ownership is what happens when you die. Not knowing if you have kids or not, maybe it's a moot point, but just because you are willing to stand up and fight for your constitutional rights doesn't mean your kids will. If I was in that position I'd take that into account when considering on the books vs private seller.

No reason to look for fight for you or future generations if you can legally avoid it. That said, I'm 100% in agreement about constitutional rights and our 2nd amendment.

Can honestly tell you that no, they don't. There is no where that the serial number gets sent to the FBI, that is only on our copy that stays in store. Now, if they ever decide to come take all of the paperwork, that's another story. Pretty certain if they went psycho crazy and tried to seize all of the paperwork, there would be a ton of gun dealers that would resist. Me being one of them.

I seem to remember a craze like this when I was a kid. Late 70s about when Australia outlawed guns there was a big scare here. I think they realized then what they realize now, there aren't enough armored vehicles to survive a door to door confiscation.
They may stop further sales, but they'll never get the existing guns out of circulation.

The reality is people should decide now where your real life or death line is going to be drawn. And be ready, because at the rate we are going, wherever you draw it, it is likely to get crossed in our lifetime.

Id rather be geronimo than wear a yellow star of david.

You will only be able to buy ammo and parts on the black market so all you could do is store what you have away for emergencies.

Can you say "Kalifornia"....

SACRAMENTO, Calif.

Gov. Jerry Brown signed six stringent gun-control measures Friday that will require people to turn in high-capacity magazines and mandate background checks for ammunition sales.

Brown's action will require people who own magazines that hold more than 10 rounds to give them up. It extends a 1999 law that made it illegal to buy a high-capacity magazine or to bring one into the state but allowed people who already owned them to keep them.

In an attempt to slow gun users from rapidly reloading, the governor signed a bill outlawing new weapons that have a device known as a bullet button. Gun makers developed bullet buttons to get around California's assault weapons ban, which prohibited new rifles with magazines that can be detached without the aid of tools. A bullet buttons allows a shooter to quickly dislodge the magazine using the tip of a bullet or other small tool.

People will be allowed to keep weapons they already own with bullet buttons, which are often referred to as "California compliant."

Brown also endorsed a bill making another attempt to regulate ammunition sales after a law passed in 2009 was struck down by a Fresno County judge who said it was too vague. The new law will require ammunition sellers to be licensed and buyers to undergo background checks. Transactions will be recorded.
He also opted to require a background check before a gun can be loaned to someone who isn't a family member.

I'm not suggesting that gun dealers are party to informing the feds, that's along the same idiocy of doctors feeding feds gun ownership info via well child visits. I am suggesting that if they want to know what you've got, they'll figure it out easily. I could have been more clear in my initial response.
