I have a large breed puppy (likely will get to ~70lbs) and looking to put a dog door in our door to the backyard. We currently have a full glass door but I assume we'll need to get a new one that's solid wood on the bottom? Any suggestions for the most durable, best doggy door brands/options? What do y'all think of the electronic smart doors? I'm willing to pay up for them if they are worth it.

Our current one is a Security Boss. It has plastic flap inside and a hard metal flap on the outside. It's still in good shape after four years and three dogs. First day in our new house and I was cutting a hole in the bedroom wall.

Is your house completely bricked ? We put ours in the kitchen wall. Our house is only bricked on 3 sides. Then on the outside drop down 9 to 12 square paverd if there grass

We had a pet safe electronic dog door (rfid chip on collar allows it to open when they are close by). We loved it, but I don't recommend in cold area. Ours would freeze up in the winters and our dogs broke it. Just a regular old pet safe flap door now.

I believe it's an all brick house and I think we want to do it through the door. Plexidoor sounds like a good option
