Well, that is somebody's cow. I'd probably honk too, but expecting the same result... It's not nature taking its course bc that cow isn't supposed to be there. I'm sure that rancher is going to hunt that bear down.

So, related to this thread and that, the worst thing you can do, IMO, is try to interrupt the predator, once he's attacked. If honking could have driven the bear off before it got to the calf, fine. Once it has bitten, let it go ahead and finish the job quickly. Nothing more sickening than seeing a predator leave a half-dead victim.

Happened a few times in the field. Hawk would grab a rabbit right in front of the tractor and maul it. Then it would flush from the tractor getting close, before it had time to finish the job. Nature being nature is one thing. Suffering is another.

Probably not. Most if my friends in Wyoming just expect a few grizzly losses. Wolves on the other hand.
