Shot in the dark here, but does anyone know any Field Spaniel breeders in Texas? Really wanting to learn more about these dogs and hope to find a breeder closer than Minnesota.

Sorry, no help with answer but that is a good looking dog. Love spaniels. If no luck, look maybe at field bred springer spaniels. Not big and bulky like the show lines are now.

Just checked the breed association breeder referral page. Closest to me is out in Coleman. There are two in Houston. From what I have read I love everything about this breed. Wish I could find some to see how they are in the field and at home

I work with a lady who trains Irish Spaniels for show. Is that anywhere in the neighborhood of what you're looking for??? She's pretty well connected, from what I gather.

No clue about breeders up there. Just thought I'd chime in with how awesome spaniels are. We had a field springer as a kid. Best dog I have ever been around. Great family dog with a big time bird drive. We didnt hunt her, but she would have been pretty darn good. Part of me wishes I would have gone with a springer rather than lab with our recent purchase.

Thought I would post a couple of articles I've read about them They are a mid sized dog (between 35-50 pounds and between 18-20 inches tall) Seems they are pretty rare here in the states. They do not have a split in the breed between show and field dogs. They are supposed to have the hunting drive of a Springer but work a bit slower and supposed to be more calm around the house. Any way if you want to read a little about them here are a couple of articles.
