Were they long trails or rugged trails? The rugged trails were horrific on a truck in the rain. The long trails might be to, just had more complaints with the rugged trails.

May have been rugged trails. Horrible in the rain. Granted it is nose heavy, but I would get stuck on damp grass unless I used 4wd. They lasted pretty well, but I hated driving in the rain or anything off pavement. I was going to get Toyo A/T's but I was not driving the truck much then, and I have not been stuck yet.

Seems I missed my cue. I'd go with P rated or load range C tires. The load range E will decrease every aspect of performance and fuel economy. It looks like your mainly dealing with metal objects puncturing, for the most part, metal doesn't give a flying fck how many plies a tire has. If you run over it at the right angle and the object is long enough, it's going through.

Geez... Slacking on your response time.

I am pretty sure you're wrong in every aspect of your response. I award you no stars... And may God have mercy on your soul.

Isn't part of the problem sharp rocks on gravel roads and not necessarily metal objects? That's the problem some folks I know on gravel roads have.

Could be... I've had a flat off a caliche road before but the reality is that the same rock that punctured that tire would have like punctured a 10 ply as well. Not a sure thing but likely.

Being a dazzling urbanite, I wouldn't know.

Terrible analogy time.

Load range C (6 ply) = no belt or suspenders. It's the most comfortable but it doesn't provide much support.

Load range D (8 ply) = just a belt. Sacrifice some comfort for better support.

Load range E (10 ply) = belt and suspenders. Give up on comfort for maximum support.

You have some guys on here who really know tires that advocate for different ends of the spectrum. I say split the difference and get lr D. The ko2s you want come in lr D (I have them on my 1/2 ton truck). They're a tad rougher ride than the stock lr Cs they replaced, but handle a load a much better.

I get a new set of tires on my truck every 4-6 months (oilfield sales truck). So I've tried just about every brand and combination you can think of. I've had cooper, Goodyear, Firestone, BFG, nitto, toyo, and the list goes on.
The two that have held up the longest for me are the BFG KO2's and the Hankook Dynapro ATM. And definitely go with a 10ply, the sissies complaining about the ride difference between the 6 and 10 need to nut up.
(Actually I just wouldn't know the difference between 6 and 10. I've never owned a vehicle that had anything less than 10plies)
