I have recently started towing a 30 foot TT behind a 2015 F150 ecoboost. There is plenty of power however the trailer is pretty much maxing out the truck with the length (tail wagging dog scenario). You need to pay attention to the max payload on your tow vehicle (yellow sticker inside driver's door) as most will most likely hit that before hitting the max tow capacity of the vehicle and will be overloaded.

watch your tongue weight (use cargo in TT to redistribute weight). and always use a load leveling hitch...and dont plan on driving too fast.

(not endorsing this brand...just showing it as an example of what a load leveling hitch is)

Oh yeah, I use the equalizer hitch and don't go above 65 (what little towing i have done up to this point has been in the hill country) and usually don't get get above 55mph in hills. I was just saying that even with the WD hitch and looking at your vehicles max tow rating, its easy to go over your Tow vehicle max payload when you start calculating occupants, cargo, hitch weight, tongue weight, etc.

That's super light weight! Also a good brand and model. Only thing I noticed is typically the bay benches fold down for a second queen...can't tell if it has that. You could always do a blow up mattress. The Rv built in generators are expensive if you plan on adding one. Else just do an inverter style quiet generator like the Hondas. Pay attention to slide sizes...this one is minimalistic...but it may be all you need.

Thoughts on pulling this Travel Trailer with a 2012 Ford-F150 4x4 6.2L V8?

For the RV, tow weights are confusing as heck because of how they are labeled...you have to do a sanity check sometimes. This one I think you need to add the shipping weight and carrying capacity to get your max tow weight (less a couple hundred lbs given up to the hitch). that gets you in the 7800 range. Then compare it to your truck capacity...you might be able to find it in the towing guide link above. That's a big engine....I doubt the engine will be a limiting factor...comes down to the capability of the other parts (brakes, trans, suspension).

BTW, that's a good example of the larger style slide out.

edit for tow guide link...apparently link earlier in thread does work....let's try this:

You have never pulled anything and you are going straight to a 30' trailer?

Good luck.

Thanks for the helpful post?

I havent bought anything, just asking questions.
I'd start with a pull behind TT with a load leveling hitch. Get used at PPL and use them to resale it when you are ready to upgrade. I would not mess with a 5th wheel until you have a decent size truck. Start out small and easy and work your way up. I've pulled trailers since I was since I was 13 (starting on the farm) and I still have my white-knuckle moments pulling a 5th wheel or a large TT.
I've never hauled anything so I'm curious what makes it a 5th wheel harder and what makes it easier to pull than a bumper pull. Why would it be better to start with a bumper pull instead?

Do NOT cheap out on the truck. Buy more than you need. Price for a F350 is about $1500 more than a F250. BTW we've been looking at 34'- 38'!!!
