My old one is falling apart after about 4 years of hard use. I'm thinking of upgrading to a Weber this time. For you Weber owners, are they worth the extra money, and will they last longer than 4-5 years without rusting apart from hard use? We use our grill 2-3 times a week. TIA

I haven't had mine for very long but I love it.

Nice to have good quality construction and fewer hot spots.

I used my Weber Genesis for 3 years or so before moving it down to the Coast. It held up to heavy use at home and now the salt air and still looks and works great

This thread is relevant to my interests as well. My Char-Broil is starting to really show its age after 10 years. Mostly the internals, which I've already replaced once and not sure it's worth the effort to replace them again.

Going on 5 years(maybe6) and my Genesis still looks brand new. It is on my covered porch and I do not put a cover over it.
No issues so far.... I think it was worth the extra $$$.

Kalamazoo grills they are like the yeti of Gas grills. Anything less and you probably have an igloo cooler.

FWIW, I had a guy tell me the Weber grills sold at HD or Lowes are specially made for them, and in order to drive the price down, they use cast iron grates, plated screws and a little more plastic. The same grill (Summit, Genesis, etc) sold at specialty stores have stainless grates and hardward.

So you guys that have responded that your Weber has lasted a long time, did you buy it at HD, Lowes, Or Academy?, bc that's where I'm currently looking.

Bought my Weber at Lowes.

Had it for years and use it about four times a week.

Highly recommend them.

Depends on which weber you get, some have cast iron and some have stainless, and they are the same price at lowes or at specialty stores.

Check out Saber Grills. I don't own one but I've cooked on one several times. It's a gas grill but cooks using infrared technology. No flareups, cooks very evenly, not very easy to burn your food. Meat comes out juicier than any other gas grill I've seen. Did I say no flareups?

Jenn-Air! I have a Jenn-Air grill that I bought 11 years ago and it still works and looks great. Never replaced any parts or had any problems. Typical use would be 2-3 times per week, for the last two months while having our kitchen remodeled it has been used 6-10 times per week.

My Weber Summit series is about 5 years old and is still in perfect condition. The paint on the knobs has worn off, but that's it really. I would recommend spending the money.

Also, keep in mind not all Webers are equal. Be sure and evaluate the differences in the Spirit, Genesis, and Summit lines.

I bought mine from Home Depot website and had it shipped to my house.

I've had Weber Genesis since 09 and it's running good. Replaced the fire V shaped covers within the last year

Disclaimer. I sell these in the Texas Panhandle.

Check out Bull Grills. www.bullbbq.com

They are really freaking nice and they offer a range of options.

My genesis going on 8 years old. It's on my patio completely uncovered and the only thing I've replaced is the battery in the igniter last fall.

My Weber is 6 years old. I am about to replace the propane hose, burners and covers for $100, after which it will be like new again. The latter 2 parts are not totally gone but they will need to be replaced soon, so I am buying it all to save on shipping.

It has been a great grill. We grill 2-3x a week on it and it is just now showing some age on the internal parts.

Bought a Weber Genesis E-310 from Amazon in 2007 (no sales tax back then). Have kept it under a covered porch but will cover it with a vinyl cover if I know it's going to rain sideways. Use the heck out of it. Replaced the flavorizer bars (had started to rust through) and porcelain-enameled cast iron grates (porcelain had started to chip off) in 2014.

Probably don't clean it as often as I should (drip tray) but I'm pretty happy with it.

Wasn't sure whether I wanted a side burner but I can think of one or two times in the past ~10 years that I could have really used a side burner.

I've got a Weber Genesis from Lowes. Had it for probably 5-years now and it's a champ.

Very pleased with it.

I think the guy who told Fido 96 about Weber using different hardware for the stuff they sell through Lowes/HD/etc was blowing smoke.

Would not doubt that. I sell tools thru my hardware store. The one at your local store may look exactly like the one in the boxes, even very similar numbers. But, the guts are different to bring the cost down.

I have a Bull drop-in grill (plus a Bull refrigerator, propane drawer, etc.) in my outdoor kitchen. They make quality products. But after cooking on the Saber, I really wish those had been around when I was building my kitchen. If I was buying a gas grill right now, it would be a Saber hands down.

I bought my Weber at an Ace hardware store before my oldest son was born. He turned 20 in March. I plan to replace the "flavorizer" bars and grates this summer (only for the 2nd time). It's been covered and uncovered and in and out of a garage over time. Since I live in Wisconsin now, it stays in the garage until i use it. I hope to never buy another grill.

They are two different models and two different price points. One is the Genesis e-3x0 or s-3x0 the other is Genesis ep-3x0 or sp-3x0. E is for enamel finish and s for stainless finish. The p signifies stainless grates and burner covers.

The x in the model number refers to the side burner and sear burners. 310 or 330.

It costs about $80 for the p series.

Thanks. That makes sense

Looking at the Weber website the Genesis series doesn't offer stainless grates & just the stainless or enamel exterior. You've got to go up to the Summit series to get stainless grates & burner covers.

I have a Genesis e-310. I didn't for the side burner because on my previous grill I didn't use it once in nearly 10 years of owning it.

Mine is natural gas and not propane though since I have the natural gas stub-out on my patio. About $700 at Lowes.

No sir, the premium series of the Genesis absolutely has stainless grates and covers. I researched it extensively in the fall when I bought mine and got all the catalogues.

Again, 2 different models and price points avaliable from different places. Lowes and HD do not sell the premium series.

Looks like Lowes does have it. I missed that this one Genesis has stainless steel grates.

I have an old Weber. It is the little one with only two knobs on the right side. I am at least the third owner. It was given to me after being used for a couple years by a buddy, who got it from another buddy after a couple years of owning it. I have had it about 9 years. I replaced the burner tubes, flavorizer bars, ignitor and something else two years ago and it is still working like a champ. The doors have rusted off the frame, and the whole frame looks like it might go at any moment. The two caster wheels are dead. One completely disintegrated. I use a brick to hold up that side of the frame. Everything involved with the actual cooking aspect of the grill looks great and works better. It is all the other stuff that is failing. It is currently uncovered on the back patio and has been that way for two years. Previously it was under a covered patio, or in the garage. I don't know how the other two guys stored it. I guess this is a thumbs up post because I plan on buying another Weber when this one finally dies, and 15 years or so is way beyond the life expectancy for a $300-400 grill.

My Weber is 11 years old from HD. I replaced the flavorizer bars last year. It stays uncovered on my back porch. The only wear that it shows is on the Weber badge.

When I finally replace it, I'll get another Weber.

One more vote for Weber. My dad and I both have them -- I guess that makes it two votes
