My local BBQ joint, and one of my favorites. Randy Witt is a great guy and runs a great pit. Their review by the Texas Monthly BBQ editor just got posted. If invite y'all to come try it out before the lines get too long.

To be fair, the top 5 are the only ones ranked. It's just alphebetical by town after that.

I find it hard to believe that it's better than Schultze's but tell me where it is and I'll give it a try.

Spoilsport!

I wondered if it was alphabetical, but I glanced at 1-6, saw that they were not alphabetical, and assumed the whole list was a ranking. Oops. Should have looked at 6-50.

I find it interesting that LaBarbeque didn't make the top 50.

That guy (Franklins old assistant pitmaster) has made quite the name for himself.

I've always found Schultze's to be mediocre at best.

ETA: I do agree with the review about Witt Pit's sausage being their weak link. If you want really good sausage in Richmond/Rosenberg, go to Galvan's.

Uh, its definitely on there.....

TM BBQ list

  • Franklin BarbecueAustin
  • Pecan LodgeDallas
  • Snow's BBQLexington
  • Louie Mueller BarbecueTaylor
  • The Original Willie's Bar-B-Q
  • Tyler's BarbequeAmarillo
  • John Mueller Meat Co.Austin
  • La BarbecueAustin
  • Lamberts Downtown BarbecueAustin
  • Stiles Switch BBQ & BrewAustin
  • Miller's SmokehouseBelton
  • Fargo's Pit BBQBryan

  • Heres the first 12 on the list. as stated earlier, they only rank the top 5, after that its just in alphabetical order by city location.

I gotta say I agree with their list. Still havent had Franklin's but Snows was excellent, Louie Muellers is as well, and Fargos is definitely the best place in B/CS. I just wish Gabe Bock would quit telling people about it on texags radio! (im sure its an advertising deal or something, but still)

My bad. I just missed it. I haven't been, but I have heard it's almost as good as Franklins...

It is literally, like 1 mile south of Schultze's on 36, same side of the road as Schultze's.

It's a little white building, looks like a small trailer house (imo). Smallish sign with a pig on it.

Hmm we're at 723 and Bellaire. Going to have to try this out. I've never been all that impressed with The Swinging Door.

FWIW, I ate at Buzzie's last Friday and it was terrible.

Of all the BBQ joints in Fort Worth, they probably picked the worse two.

    - Cousin's BBQ - Everything is dry and is only editable with sauce on it. The meat is hit & miss, but usually a miss.
    - Longoria's BBQ - Review is pretty spot on, brisket is usually dry, and the whole place has a mexican flare to the menu. Not really traditional BBQ.

There are plenty of better choices in Ft Worth, like Railhead, Angelo's, and The Smoke Pit.

ETA: I removed Heim as I was unsure if they were in operation when the article was written.

Stiles Switch is just as good as any of the way overcrowded places in Austin.

The ribs are great and if Stiles is there and you have Aggie gear on you get a free koozie. He is an Aggie

Tyler's is awesome. And Tyler seems to be a really nice guy as well. The jap/cheese sausage is awesome. As well as the grilled onion and green chile Mac and cheese (only on Thursdays). I eat there almost every time I'm in Amarillo and try to make my Amarillo trip on a Thursday.
